This book was released on 2010-12-01 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Control of Vehicles and Robots develops a unified approach to the dynamic modeling of robots in terrestrial, aerial and marine environments. The main classes of nonlinear systems and stability methods are summarized and basic nonlinear control methods, useful in manipulator and vehicle control, are presented. Formation control of ground robots and ships is discussed. The book also deals with the modeling and control of robotic systems in the presence of non-smooth nonlinearities. Robust adaptive tracking control of robotic systems with unknown payload and friction in the presence of uncertainties is treated. Theoretical and practical aspects of the control algorithms under discussion are detailed. Examples are included throughout the book allowing the reader to apply the control and modeling techniques in their own research and development work. Some of these examples demonstrate state estimation based on the use of advanced sensors as part of the control system.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of nonlinear controllers for mechanical systems has been an ex tremely active area of research in the last two decades. From a theoretical point of view, this attention can be attributed to their interesting dynamic behavior, which makes them suitable benchmarks for nonlinear control the oreticians. On the other hand, recent technological advances have produced many real-world engineering applications that require the automatic con trol of mechanical systems. the mechanism for de Often, Lyapunov-based techniques are utilized as veloping different nonlinear control structures for mechanical systems. The allure of the Lyapunov-based framework for mechanical system control de sign can most likely be assigned to the fact that Lyapunov function candi dates can often be crafted from physical insight into the mechanics of the system. That is, despite the nonlinearities, couplings, and/or the flexible effects associated with the system, Lyapunov-based techniques can often be used to analyze the stability of the closed-loop system by using an energy like function as the Lyapunov function candidate. In practice, the design procedure often tends to be an iterative process that results in the death of many trees. That is, the controller and energy-like function are often constructed in concert to foster an advantageous stability property and/or robustness property. Fortunately, over the last 15 years, many system the ory and control researchers have labored in this area to produce various design tools that can be applied in a variety of situations.

Mathematical modelling, when possible, as well as experimental techniques for obtaining models of flexible structures are discussed. Additionally, different control techniques adapted for flexible robotic manipulators equipped with piezoelectric actuators and sensors are covered in the book. Depending on the system, linear and non-linear control techniques for stabilising residual vibrations in the system are discussed.

Book Synopsis High-Level Feedback Control with Neural Networks by : Young Ho Kim
Download or read book High-Level Feedback Control with Neural Networks written by Young Ho Kim and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex industrial or robotic systems with uncertainty and disturbances are difficult to control. As system uncertainty or performance requirements increase, it becomes necessary to augment traditional feedback controllers with additional feedback loops that effectively "add intelligence" to the system. Some theories of artificial intelligence (AI) are now showing how complex machine systems should mimic human cognitive and biological processes to improve their capabilities for dealing with uncertainty. This book bridges the gap between feedback control and AI. It provides design techniques for "high-level" neural-network feedback-control topologies that contain servo-level feedback-control loops as well as AI decision and training at the higher levels. Several advanced feedback topologies containing neural networks are presented, including "dynamic output feedback", "reinforcement learning" and "optimal design", as well as a "fuzzy-logic reinforcement" controller. The control topologies areintuitive, yet are derived using sound mathematical principles where proofs of stability are given so that closed-loop performance can be relied upon in using these control systems. Computer-simulation examples are given to illustrate the performance.
Book Synopsis Robust Synchronization of Chaotic Systems via Feedback by : Ricardo Femat
Download or read book Robust Synchronization of Chaotic Systems via Feedback written by Ricardo Femat and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-01-23 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This pages include the results derived during last ten years about both suppression and synchronization of chaotic -continuous time- systems. Along this time, our concept was to study how the intrinsic properties of dynamical systems can be exploited to suppress and to synchronize the chaotic behavior and what synchronization phen- ena can be found under feedback interconnection. Our findings have caused surprise to us and have stimulated our astonishing capability. Perhaps, reader can imagine our faces with opens eyes like children seeing around objects; which are possibly obvious for others and novel for us. A compilation of our surprises about these findings is being described along this book. Book contains both objectives to share our ama- ment and to show our perspective on synchronization of chaotic systems. Thus, while we were writing the preface, we discussed its scope. Thinking as a book readers, we found that a preface should answer, in few words, the following question: What can the reader find in this book?, reader can find our steps toward understanding of c- otic behavior and the possibility of suppressing and synchronizing it. We firstly show the chaos suppression form experimental domain to potential implementation in high tech system as a levitation system based on High Temperature Superconductors (HTS). This chapter is used as departing point towards a more complicated problem the chaotic synchronization. Then, reader travels by the synchronization of the chaotic behavior world throughout distinct feedback approaches.

Book Synopsis Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics by : Joaquim Filipe
Download or read book Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics written by Joaquim Filipe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-09-27 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book includes a set of selected papers from the fourth “International Conference on Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics” (ICINCO 2007), held at the University of Angers, France, from 9 to 12 May 2007. The conference was organized in three simultaneous tracks: “Intelligent Control Systems and Optimization”, “Robotics and Automation” and “Systems Modeling, Signal Processing and Control”. The book is based on the same structure. ICINCO 2007 received 435 paper submissions, from more than 50 different countries in all continents. From these, after a blind review process, only 52 where accepted as full papers, of which 22 were selected for inclusion in this book, based on the classifications provided by the Program Committee. The selected papers reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the conference. The diversity of topics is an important feature of this conference, enabling an overall perception of several important scientific and technological trends. These high quality standards will be maintained and reinforced at ICINCO 2008, to be held in Funchal, Madeira - Portugal, and in future editions of this conference. Furthermore, ICINCO 2007 included 3 plenary keynote lectures given by Dimitar Filev (Ford Motor Company), Patrick Millot (Université de Valenciennes) and Mark W. Spong (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).
