En este contexto, el objetivo principal que se persigue en este trabajo es describir la evolución que ha experimentado el mercado de trabajo español durante los últimos años (concretamente entre 2006 y 2018). Para ello el trabajo comienza con la presentación de los principales rasgos que tradicionalmente han caracterizado al mercado de trabajo español. A continuación, se describen brevemente las consecuencias de la crisis económica de 2008 sobre los principales agregados macroeconómicos de la economía española, así como la evolución de las medidas de política económica emprendidas por las autoridades nacionales con el fin de abordar dicha crisis. Por último, el resto del trabajo se destina a describir los cambios que se han producido en los principales ámbitos de actuación del mercado de trabajo; en concreto se revisan sucesivamente las transformaciones acaecidas en el desempleo, la actividad, el empleo, el trabajo a tiempo parcial, el trabajo temporal, el trabajo por cuenta propia y los salarios.Palabras clave: mercado de trabajo, crisis, empleo, desempleo, salarios, precariedad.

Book excerpt: El futuro de la economía mundial no puede asentarse sobre los cimientos de la consolidación de la precariedad laboral que sufren amplios colectivos, un modelo de semejantes lazos no es justo ni sostenible y, por ello, es necesario tratar de encontrar vías jurídicas que permitan el desarrollo humano y social junto al económico. A pesar de que la propia Constitución Española, en su artículo 40.1, indica que la política debe ir orientada hacia el pleno empleo, el objetivo de la misma se concreta en crear empleo, sin garantizar que, en su mayor parte, el empleo que se crea sea estable. La precariedad laboral que sufre la juventud no se reduce únicamente al desempleo, la temporalidad, la rotación o la siniestralidad. Con ser los principales factores en los que se ha venido analizando, la compleja realidad en la que se desenvuelven los jóvenes, se entrecruza con nuevas situaciones que colocan a más jóvenes y desde más factores en su ámbito.Por todo esto es necesario cambiar el modelo productivo de nuestro país sustentado en los bajos costes laborales y el empleo precario, abordando reformas en materia laboral que apuesten decididamente por la estabilidad y la calidad en el empleo.

La pasividad de las Administraciones ante los abusos y degradaciones cometidas contra los derechos laborales, unido a la carencia de empleo para gran parte de la población activa, han sido otros de los grandes impulsores de esta situación. Esto ha traído consigo unas consecuencias sociales, laborales y económicas gravísimas, llegando a afectar a la salud de las personas, como analizaremos en profundidad a lo largo del trabajo. Se pone de manifiesto que la exclusión social se ha convertido en un fenómeno estructural para la sociedad española, con especial repercusión en los jóvenes ya que son el grupo social más vulnerable socialmente por los fenómenos nombrados, viéndose obligados a reorganizar y redirigir sus vidas en busca de mayor formación (sobrecualificación) para aumentar sus posibilidades de éxito o resignarse y aceptar la incertidumbre, repercutiéndoles socialmente de manera más intensa que a los demás colectivos.

Book excerpt: Resumen El denominado proceso de globalización ha propiciado nuevos patrones de desarrollo en las relaciones económicas a nivel mundial, que no sólo se han traducido en una nueva organización del trabajo y cambios generales en la producción sino que, a su vez, han modificado las relaciones de poder entre el capital y el trabajo. Como consecuencia de esta profunda reorganización social y económica, la denominada flexibilización laboral se ha convertido en una de las características dominantes del mercado laboral que ha tenido diversos efectos negativos para los trabajadores en cuanto a su estabilidad, seguridad laboral, y pérdida de poder. En este contexto, surge la precariedad laboral que ha comportado profundos cambios en el empleo, transformando las relaciones de reproducción social y de las relaciones en el ámbito de la producción, acrecentando la vulnerabilidad de los trabajadores. Al mismo tiempo, la emergencia de la precariedad laboral ha coincidido históricamente con el aumento de los flujos migratorios de carácter principalmente económico. La precariedad laboral no afecta de la misma manera al conjunto de la fuerza de trabajo sino que perjudica especialmente a ciertos grupos vulnerables, entre los que se encuentran los inmigrantes. Así, la precariedad está estrechamente relacionada con los ejes de la desigualdad, que permiten explicar cómo las desigualdades sociales se traducen en distintos niveles de salud. No obstante, existe escasa evidencia que permita entender, con la profundidad suficiente, la relación entre los factores estructurales que configuran la precariedad laboral y su relación con la salud de los trabajadores. Book excerpt: Exploring the expansion of the penal system in Spain during the first 40 years of democracy, this book puts forward the importance of studying punishment from a sociological perspective and examines the neoliberal penality thesis. Today, Spain has more police officers and more people in prison than 50 years ago and a tougher penal code than that which existed at Franco’s death; however, crime has not increased for three decades, while most of the hardening of the penal system has occurred after its stabilisation. Studying the development of penality in Spanish democracy, this book explores Loïc Wacquant’s proposal that the expansion of the penal system should be understood as a characteristic of neoliberalism. It examines the parallel and reciprocal development of three policies in relation to the gradual implementation of neoliberal ideas and highlights how the evolution of the labour market, social policies, and the penal system are linked to one another and to neoliberal ideas related to the sacralisation of the utilitarian individual and the role of the state.
