Book excerpt: Excerpt from Practical Assistance to Wool Growers in the Marketing of Their Wool Clips by the Live Stock Branch, Department of Agriculture, Ottawa The Live Stock Branch of the Dominion Department of Agriculture is prepared to offer practical assistance to Associations of Wool Growers in the preparation and display of their wool clips for market. Associations, in order to receive this aid, must be organized in accordance with the regulations of the Branch, hereinafter 'set forth, and member ship is limited to actual owners of. Sheep. West of Fort William, an association must contain at least 10 members and sheep, or sufficient to comprise one car-load of wool; east of there a relative number. The ser vices of expert wool classifiers, who will take actual charge of and perform the grading, classification and preparation of the wool, will be provided by the Branch. Prosecution of this plan will permit wool producers to observe and study to greater advantage the actual methods employed in the operations of grading and thus enable them to perform more efficiently themselves the preparation of their wools in a manner most acceptable to the trade. It is hoped, moreover, that this may serve as a factor in developing and improving the general status of sheep raising and in creating an impetus to the production and preparation of an improv ed grade of wool and, indirectly, a better class of mutton.
