Shestopaloff and published by AKVY PRESS. This book was released on 2010 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book considers properties of polynomial, exponential, logarithmic and power functions. It introduces and proves important relationships between these functions, which enhances the theory and greatly improves the range of theoretical and practical applications, such as the modeling of physical, societal or economical processes. Relationship of the considered functions with the physical reality is another primarily subject of this book. Lots of illustrations and examples based on physical, biological, societal phenomena constitute a substantial part of the book, that facilitates the understanding of introduced modeling concepts and methods. The book is an excellent supplementary material for mathematical and physical courses for undergraduate and graduate studies; a valuable resource for mathematicians working in areas of algebra and analysis. Engineers, researchers, analysts, who use these functions in modeling of different processes and phenomena, will greatly benefit from this book.
Book Synopsis Effective Polynomial Computation by : Richard Zippel
Download or read book Effective Polynomial Computation written by Richard Zippel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Effective Polynomial Computation is an introduction to the algorithms of computer algebra. It discusses the basic algorithms for manipulating polynomials including factoring polynomials. These algorithms are discussed from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Those cases where theoretically optimal algorithms are inappropriate are discussed and the practical alternatives are explained. Effective Polynomial Computation provides much of the mathematical motivation of the algorithms discussed to help the reader appreciate the mathematical mechanisms underlying the algorithms, and so that the algorithms will not appear to be constructed out of whole cloth. Preparatory to the discussion of algorithms for polynomials, the first third of this book discusses related issues in elementary number theory. These results are either used in later algorithms (e.g. the discussion of lattices and Diophantine approximation), or analogs of the number theoretic algorithms are used for polynomial problems (e.g. Euclidean algorithm and p-adic numbers). Among the unique features of Effective Polynomial Computation is the detailed material on greatest common divisor and factoring algorithms for sparse multivariate polynomials. In addition, both deterministic and probabilistic algorithms for irreducibility testing of polynomials are discussed.

Book Synopsis Orthogonal Polynomials for Exponential Weights by : A. L. Levin
Download or read book Orthogonal Polynomials for Exponential Weights written by A. L. Levin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-06-29 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis of orthogonal polynomials associated with general weights was a major theme in classical analysis in the twentieth century and undoubtedly will continue to grow in importance in the future. In this monograph, the authors investigate orthogonal polynomials for exponential weights defined on a finite or infinite interval. The interval should contain 0, but need not be symmetric about 0 ; likewise, the weight need not be even. The authors establish bounds and asymptotics for orthonormal and extremal polynomials, and their associated Christoffel functions. They deduce bounds on zeros of extremal and orthogonal polynomials, and also establish Markov-Bernstein and Nikolskii inequalities. The book will be of interest to researchers in approximation theory, harmonic analysis, numerical analysis, potential theory, and all those that apply orthogonal polynomials.

Book Synopsis Polynomial Identities and Asymptotic Methods by : A. Giambruno
Download or read book Polynomial Identities and Asymptotic Methods written by A. Giambruno and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2005 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a state of the art approach to the study of polynomial identities satisfied by a given algebra by combining methods of ring theory, combinatorics, and representation theory of groups with analysis. The idea of applying analytical methods to the theory of polynomial identities appeared in the early 1970s and this approach has become one of the most powerful tools of the theory. A PI-algebra is any algebra satisfying at least one nontrivial polynomial identity. This includes the polynomial rings in one or several variables, the Grassmann algebra, finite-dimensional algebras, and many other algebras occurring naturally in mathematics. The core of the book is the proof that the sequence of co-dimensions of any PI-algebra has integral exponential growth - the PI-exponent of the algebra. Later chapters further apply these results to subjects such as a characterization of varieties of algebras having polynomial growth and a classification of varieties that are minimal for a given exponent.
Book Synopsis Algebra From A To Z - Volume 1 by : A W Goodman
Download or read book Algebra From A To Z - Volume 1 written by A W Goodman and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2001-09-04 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a thorough explanation of the notation of summation, some unusual material on inequalities, an extended treatment of mathematical induction, and basic probability theory (including the explanation that all gambling systems must fail). It also contains a complete treatment of vector algebra (including the dot and cross product). This is usually reserved for a calculus course, but is properly algebra, and so belongs in any algebra book.Since this book deals with algebra from A to Z, it starts at the beginning with the arithmetic of the counting numbers and their extensions, i.e. the negative numbers and the rational numbers. However, these very elementary items are treated from an advanced point of view. The teacher should assign the first three chapters as outside reading, using only one day per chapter for classroom discussion. The remaining chapters cover all of the usual topics in college algebra, but they contain many unusual items not found in the standard college algebra course. As an example, the circle notation for a composite function is now standard material, but this book explains just why that notation is needed. The book concludes with a presentation of the Peano Axioms. This advanced topic should be available to all mathematics students, whether they are first year algebra students or are working for a PhD degree.

Book Synopsis Elliptic Curves and Modular Forms in Algebraic Topology by : Peter S. Landweber
Download or read book Elliptic Curves and Modular Forms in Algebraic Topology written by Peter S. Landweber and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A small conference was held in September 1986 to discuss new applications of elliptic functions and modular forms in algebraic topology, which had led to the introduction of elliptic genera and elliptic cohomology. The resulting papers range, fom these topics through to quantum field theory, with considerable attention to formal groups, homology and cohomology theories, and circle actions on spin manifolds. Ed. Witten's rich article on the index of the Dirac operator in loop space presents a mathematical treatment of his interpretation of elliptic genera in terms of quantum field theory. A short introductory article gives an account of the growth of this area prior to the conference.
Book Synopsis Power Orthogonal Polynomials by : Ying Guang Shi
Download or read book Power Orthogonal Polynomials written by Ying Guang Shi and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2006 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first chapter lists the basic results of orthogonal polynomials, Jacobi, Laguerre, and Hermite polynomials, and collects some frequently used theorems and formulas. As a base and useful tool, the representation and quantitative theory of Hermite interpolation is the subject of Chapter 2. The theory of power orthogonal polynomials begins in Chapter 3: existence, uniqueness, Characterisations, properties of zeros, and continuity with respect to the measure and the indices are all considered. Chapter 4 deals with Gaussian quadrature formulas and their convergence. Chapter 5 is devoted to the theory of Christo®el type functions, which are related to Gaussian quadrature formulas and is one of the important contents of power orthogonal polynomials. The explicit representation of power orthogonal polynomials is an interesting problem and is discussed in Chapter 6. Chapter 7 is a detailed treatment of zeros in power orthogonal polynomials. Chapter 8 is devoted to bounds and inequalities of power orthogonal polynomials. In Chapters 9 and 10 we study asymptotics of general polynomials and power orthogonal polynomials, respectively. In Chapter 11 we discuss convergence of power orthogonal series, Lagrange and Hermite interpolation, and two positive operators constructed by power orthogonal polynomials. In Chapter 12 we investigate Gaussian quadrature formulas for extended Chebyshev spaces. In Chapter 13 we give construction methods for power orthogonal polynomials and Gaussian quadrature formulas; we also provide numerical results and numerical tables.
