Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Police, customs and coast guard boats have a large number of enthusiasts among model ship builders due to their tasks, but above all due to their interesting appearance. In addition, these types of ships can be equipped with numerous special functions. Due to their usually high cruising performance, they are also ideal for those who want a fast model but do not like a yacht or a military speedboat. The model building companies have recognised this and have recently brought a number of construction kits of RC ship models of this type onto the market. Let the author Gerhard O. W. Fischer inspire you with his richly illustrated descriptions of this variant of RC ship modelling! From the content: • The tasks of the Coast Guard • Visit to the Albatros II • RC model Albatros I • Converted Coast Guard boats • Models of the U.S. Coast Guard • Police Boat W 4 • Police or Coast Guard Boat • Police and Coast Guard Boat Sylt • A police boat of own design • A pilot boat • River patrol boat Bussard • List of sources

Book Synopsis China's Maritime Gray Zone Operations by : Andrew S. Erickson
Download or read book China's Maritime Gray Zone Operations written by Andrew S. Erickson and published by Naval Institute Press. This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China’s maritime “gray zone” operations represent a new challenge for the U.S. Navy and the sea services of our allies, partners, and friends in maritime East Asia. There, Beijing is waging what some Chinese sources term a “war without gunsmoke.” Already winning in important areas, China could gain far more if left unchecked. One of China’s greatest advantages thus far has been foreign difficulty in understanding the situation, let alone determining an effective response. With contributions from some of the world’s leading subject matter experts, this volume aims to close that gap by explaining the forces and doctrines driving China’s paranaval expansion, operating in the “gray zone” between war and peace. The book covers China’s major maritime forces beyond core gray-hulled Navy units, with particular focus on China’s second and third sea forces: the “white-hulled” Coast Guard and “blue-hulled” Maritime Militia. Increasingly, these paranaval forces, and the “gray zone” in which they typically operate, are on the frontlines of China’s seaward expansion.

Book Synopsis The Arab-U.S. Strategic Partnership and the Changing Security Balance in the Gulf by : Anthony H. Cordesman
Download or read book The Arab-U.S. Strategic Partnership and the Changing Security Balance in the Gulf written by Anthony H. Cordesman and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2015-11-10 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ongoing confrontation with Iran, the war against ISIL, the instability in Iraq, the Civil war in Syria, and the conflict in Yemen have all caused major changes in the security situation in the Persian Gulf and in the regional military balance. The strategic partnership between Arab Gulf states, and with the United States and other outside states, must now evolve to deal with conventional military threats and a range of new threats, including ideological extremists, non-state actors and their state sponsors, and a growing range of forces designed to fight asymmetric wars. This new report from the CSIS Burke Chair in Strategy provides a 2015 assessment of the Gulf military balance, the military capabilities of each Gulf state, the role of the United States as a security partner, and the priorities for change in the structure of both the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab Gulf military partnership with the United States. The assessment goes far beyond the conventional military balance and examines how force developments in the region affect joint and asymmetric warfare, missiles and missile defense, nuclear forces, as well as terrorism, the role of non-state actors, and outside powers.
