Book Synopsis The Perfection of Freedom by : DC Schindler
Download or read book The Perfection of Freedom written by DC Schindler and published by James Clarke & Company. This book was released on 2017-03-31 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Perfection of Freedom seeks to respond to the impoverished conventional notion of freedom through a recovery of an understanding rich with possibilities yet all but forgotten in contemporary thought. This understanding, developed in different but complementary ways by the German thinkers Schiller, Schelling, and Hegel, connects freedom, not exclusively with power and possibility, but rather, most fundamentally, with completion, wholeness, and actuality. What is unique here is specifically the interpretation of freedom in terms of form, whether it be aesthetic form (Schiller), organic form (Schelling), or social form (Hegel). Although this book presents serious criticisms of the three philosophers, it shows that they open new avenues for reflection on the notion of freedom; avenues that promise to overcome many of the dichotomies that continue to haunt contemporary thought - for example, between freedom and order, freedom and nature, and self and other. The Perfection of Freedom offers not only a significantly new interpretation of Schiller, Schelling, and Hegel, but also proposes a modernity more organically rooted in the ancient and classical Christian worlds.

Download or read book The Last Perfect American written by Charlene Dixon-Anthony and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-07-11 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book about a man of war and we are all born to die. It tells how a man chose to live until he died. And this is a book about a man whom I deeply love who has shown me the terrible facing of death that is military. Thank God he is still alive, but I live everyday as a woman who loves a man who is closer to God, eternity and his past than he is to me. This is a book of one warrior who speaks for all warriors who dont speak about their experiences of war. From 15 years of age to eighty- seven years of age Jack forgot himself to serve his country. He was a body guard to three U.S Presidents who chose him because they knew he would surrender his life to protect them. Jack generously, although unwillingly, expressed his war experiences. Men of war hide violence. Jack has expressed this to me. I am grateful to be his wife and a woman that he loves. I am fortunate to be able to give this gift of Jacks privacy to the world.

Book excerpt: From "a graceful writer who’s written some of the best natural history books of the past decade” (The New York Times Book Review) comes an urgent, stirring celebration and a rallying cry on behalf of one of earth's greatest natural treasures. Polar bears—fierce and majestic—have captivated us for centuries. Feared by explorers, revered by the Inuit, and beloved by zoo goers everywhere, they are a symbol for the harsh beauty and muscular grace of the Arctic. But as global warming threatens the ice caps’ integrity, the polar bear has also come to symbolize the environmental peril that has arisen due to harmful human practices. In the past twenty years alone, the world population of polar bears has shrunk by half. Today they number just 22,000.

Book Synopsis Analytic Theism, Hartshorne, and the Concept of God by : Daniel A. Dombrowski
Download or read book Analytic Theism, Hartshorne, and the Concept of God written by Daniel A. Dombrowski and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1996-10-10 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book initiates a dialogue where one does not exist, and continues a dialogue where one has been tentatively initiated, regarding the concept of God in the neoclassical philosophy of Charles Hartshorne and that found in analytic philosophers who adhere to classical theism. Two distinctive features of the book are a careful examination of Hartshorne's use of position matrices in the philosophy of religion so as to avoid a myopic view of the theoretical options open to us, and an extended treatment of the largely uncritical appropriation by analytic theists of the Aristotelian tradition in theology, a tradition that relies on a certain form of Platonism not necessarily held by Plato.
