Download or read book Poetry ’n Flow written by Renea Simpson and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Black women writers are different from any other writer because they see and write love and anguish on the human conditions of their human soul as society has made them and they’ve made society. As early as the 1950s, black women writers have been at work, seeing and writing on the events of their generation. Black women have played their role in the struggle for freedom and equality in the United States and in other countries. They have also acquired the ability to open the minds of most people who are unaware of the black women who laid the foundation of black American literature. There is an old saying: “A writer writes her own biography through her own creative works.” The good and bad experiences of her life are portrayed through the characters in her novel. Alice Walker’s novels depict the female character being constantly in search of some peace of mind. She struggles just as much as the black male character but in a quiet and submissive way. Southern black women, for example, struggle endlessly and are harmless because they know no wrong. In the novel The Color Purple, Celie struggles to find the kind of love robbed from her when her father cruelly separates both her and her sister, sending them into two different worlds.

Download or read book Flow written by Nannie Bell Wright and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2018-01-22 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are things we encounter so often that we dont really give them much thought. But then someoneor somethingcomes along, and we are made to look at these things with a new appreciation and understanding. Poet Nannie Bell Wright will make you take a new look at the ordinary. Her book, Flow: A Medley of Poems (the something), is an interesting collection of poems that reflect things most of us feel and do every day. Many women (and men) lament over not having a relationship. Weve all had to say goodbye to someone we love. And there is the frustration of trying to find a tomato that actually tastes like a tomato. These are some of the diverse topics she covers in her poetry. The poems in Flow: A Medley of Poems contain words that speak, teach, preach, and heal. Wrights use of contrasts, such as hot and cold, encourages readers to think deeper about relationships of all kinds.
Book Synopsis Beauty, Poetry & Flow by : Shirley "Beauty" Houston
Download or read book Beauty, Poetry & Flow written by Shirley "Beauty" Houston and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-12-12 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the age of six I was criminally violated. I wouldn't speak of this horror for decades, but lived it out daily in my demeanor and later through my poems. This book of poems chronicles my journey from that point. Organizing it was absolutely catharsis. I literally wept as I proofread many of the pieces because they brought back many painful memories. I begin with a piece entitled, "Mosaic" and end with a piece entitled "Promise." They represent my death and ultimate rebirth. Today I am evolving and redefining myself. With this book I am shaking off the shackles of self-doubt, others perception of who I am and am reclaiming my unique voice. I am capable and worthy of success. Publication of this book declares that. Poetically, I want to establish myself as a writer committed to the craft, beauty and unique attributes of the genre. I also want to establish myself as an author who is passionate about encouraging others to pursue their dreams. Marianne Williamson's assertion that, "....as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others" is my mantra and calling.
Book Synopsis Things That Flow by : K. S. Lubinski
Download or read book Things That Flow written by K. S. Lubinski and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2016-03-24 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author K. S. Lubinski takes a lot of comfort from his relationship with the river. It has helped him find a level of internal peace that was missing in his younger years. In Things that Flow, Lubinski braids strands of life and work on rivers into poems and essays intended to pass his perspectives and values down to his children and future generations. A river ecologist, philosopher, paratrooper, combat veteran, and diver, Lubinski’s experiences span a wide and diverse landscape of nature and its human occupants. His works share word images of silently watching a deer attempting a hazardous swim across the Illinois River, to listening to an ancient hydrologist castigate engineers along the Ganges River, to building sand castles on a Mississippi River beach, and taking a jon boat ride with Miss Sophia, a retired high school history teacher. Intended to help others experience some of what happens on the river, Things that Flow offers insight into one man’s personal relationship with that special body of water.
