Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive view of concepts, principles and practices of Total Quality Management (TQM) from basics through advanced tools and techniques for practical implementation. It is well known that ‘Total Organization Involvement’ in understanding and implementing TQM, along with the integrated business strategy, provided Japanese organizations with a strong platform for a meteoric rise to world-class performance and global leadership in every sphere of their operation. The success of TQM therefore depends a lot on the strong foundation and infrastructure of an organization. This is the crux of the author’s theory of ‘Holistic Management System for World-class Performance and Leadership’ expounded in this book. It is a TQM-based model that helps create a world-class management system for performance excellence and global leadership. The concluding part of the book cites several examples of practical implementation of TQM principles and practices in various manufacturing and service sectors of the Indian industry, providing elaboration and analysis of each case study. The book is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students of management as well as students of most engineering disciplines. It can also be used by the industries as a valuable guide to continuous improvement and implementation of a world-class management system in line with the TQM principles and practices. In a nutshell, the book provides wide coverage of areas related to TQM and integrates all its processes, tools and techniques under one management system to help businesses grow and excel. This is indeed the unique feature of the book.

Book Synopsis Concepts and Challenges in the Biophysics of Hearing by : Nigel Paul Cooper
Download or read book Concepts and Challenges in the Biophysics of Hearing written by Nigel Paul Cooper and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a compilation of cutting-edge research on the mechanical operation of the peripheral auditory system. Bringing together over 50 theoretical and experimental studies by leading researchers, it covers the molecular, cellular and systems levels using a powerful combination of biological, mathematical and engineering techniques. In addition to the scientific papers, the book includes the comments and discussions raised by the individual manuscripts at the time of their presentation, and a final chapter with the edited transcripts of a discussion session covering "outstanding topics" between some of the most prominent researchers in the field. The first-hand information provided by these transcripts will make the book particularly interesting.Renowned contributors to the book include Profs. JF Ashmore (FRS, UK), E de Boer (The Netherlands), W Brownell (USA), P Dallos (USA), R Fettiplace (FRS, USA), AW Gummer (Germany), AJ Hudspeth (USA), DC Mountain (USA), AL Nuttall (USA), IJ Russell (FRS, UK), CA Shera (USA), and H Wada (Japan).

Book Synopsis Satellites and Commissars by : Randall W. Stone
Download or read book Satellites and Commissars written by Randall W. Stone and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why did the Soviet Union squander the political leverage afforded by its trade subsidy to Eastern Europe? Why did Soviet officials fail to bargain with resolve, to link subsidies to salient political issues, to make credible commitments, and to monitor the satellites' policies? Using an unprecedented array of formerly secret documents housed in archives in Moscow, Warsaw, and Prague, as well as interviews with former Communist officials across Eastern Europe, Randall Stone answers these questions and others that have long vexed Western political scientists. Stone argues that trade politics revolved around the incentives created by distorted prices. The East European satellites profited by trading on the margin between prices on the Western market and those in the Soviet bloc. The Soviet Union made numerous attempts to reduce its implicit trade subsidy and increase the efficiency of the bloc, but the satellites managed consistently to outmaneuver Soviet negotiators. Stone demonstrates how the East Europeans artfully resisted Soviet objectives. Stone draws upon recent developments in bargaining and principal-agent theory, arguing that the incentives created by domestic institutions weakened Soviet bargaining strategies. In effect, he suggests, perverse incentive structures in the Soviet economy were exported into Soviet foreign policy. Furthermore, Stone argues, incentives to smother information were so deeply entrenched that they frustrated numerous attempts to reform Soviet institutions.

Book Synopsis Origin of the Earth and Moon by : Robin M. Canup
Download or read book Origin of the Earth and Moon written by Robin M. Canup and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2000-11 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The age-old question of how our home planet and its satellite originated has in recent times undergone a minor revolution. The emergence of the "giant impact theory" as the most successful model for the origin of the Moon has been difficult to reconcile with some aspects of the Earth, and the development of an integrated model for the origin of the Earth-Moon system has been difficult for this reason. However, recent technical advances in experimental and isotopic work, together with intensified interest in the modeling of planetary dynamics, have produced a wealth of new results requiring a rethinking of models for the origin of the Earth and Moon. This book is intended to serve as a resource for those scientists working closely in this field, while at the same time it provides enough balance and depth to offer an introduction for students or technically minded general readers. Its thirty chapters address isotopic and chemical constraints on accretion, the dynamics of terrestrial planet formation, the impact-triggered formation of the Earth-Moon system, differentiation of the Earth and Moon, the origin of terrestrial volatiles, and conditions on the young Earth and Moon. Covering such subjects as the history and origin of the Moon's orbit, water on the Earth, and the implications of Earth-Moon interactions for terrestrial climate and life, the book constitutes a state-of-the-art overview of the most recent investigations in the field. Although many advances have been made in our ability to evaluate competing models of the formation of the Earth-Moon system, there are still many gaps in our understanding. This book makes great strides toward closing those gaps by highlighting the extensive progress that has been made and pointing toward future research.
