Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I started writing many years ago. At fi rst it was just mental therapy for me. My doctor, very great psychologist told me that if I wrote my feelings down on paper that it would help me feel better and cope with whats bothering me in my head. I suffered many horrors in my life and I needed a way cope and live a normal life. Well my life isnt exactly normal as you will read. And neither are some of my poems. The question for me to ask is anyones life really normal? I wanted my life to be written so that the future generations of my family will know about me. And will know of how I became the person that I ended up to be. By accident I realized that I could write poems of many kinds. A guarantee that you will laugh and sometimes cry and even learn from my poems. Of how to love, heal, cope, laugh, cry, live and get even through my poems. Many of my friends online around the world give me subjects to write about. To be their words for them to speak to others. To help, to Heal, to dream, reasons to live and reasons to want to pray. And reasons to not want to die. I thought to myself that if Im going to be a writer that I dont want to let one subject to be untouched. To speak out words that I feel need to be heard through my poems. I want my book to be of help to others for whatever needs they have. And I pray with my whole heart that you get something good out of what you are about to read. And whether you believe it or not you will fi nd in my book of something that you might need written in one or more of my poems. And the life story is to help you know that your life is better than you may have thought. In my poems there is something for everyone. And that means you. My e-mail is written in my book if you would like to write me or even comment on my book. Weather good or bad happy or sad I would like to know of how you feel.

Download or read book Get a Clue! written by Ellen Rosenberg and published by Holt Paperbacks. This book was released on 2015-08-18 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This practical companion to Reviving Ophelia and Real Boys shares the concerns of preteens in their own words and advises parents how to approach them confidently and effectively. Many parents may not want to know that their eight- to fourteen-year-olds are already facing serious issues and have questions such as: - Why do people make fun of me because I am from another country? - When will I know when puberty has struck? - How do I deal with the feeling that no matter how good I do it's not good enough for my parents? - What happens when a friend beats you up? Without support, understanding, and assistance, the anxiety these dilemmas evoke could undermine a child's confidence and self-image as he or she matures. In a reassuring style filled with practical pointers, Ellen Rosenberg, veteran educator of thirty years, tells parents how to open a discussion on the day-to-day questions their preteens have but may be reluctant to share. Handwritten queries from preteens are included in the text, and as they attest, your children do want you to know what's really going on. A communication bible that parents will return to again and again, Get a Clue! is sure to help parents and their children become closer and form a bond of trust that will last through middle school, high school, college, and beyond.

Book excerpt: A captivating psychological drama, "The Blue Mirror" chronicles the life of Dr. Tracey Silverman, as she tenaciously searches for the elusive answer to the very problem she seeks to escape. Dissatisfaction and conflict accompany her internship at an opulent Beverly Hills hospital, where Tracey's idealist views on medicine are as disregarded, as are her concerns for human reverence. Haunted by a recurring nightmare since childhood, and her inability to develop lasting relationships, Tracey must look to her disturbing past for resolution. In time, love conquers all, but Tracey must first follow the seasons of her heart, and in these coldest of days, she takes a sabbatical in a tiny mountain village in Mexico, where she volunteers her services. Here, Tracey meets a sage, old doctor who immediately becomes her mentor, helping her unravel the convoluted days of her childhood. Dredged up are the repressed memories of devastating relationship, all clearly remembered in a nightmarish vision as seen through a haunting blue mirror. Juxtaposed to personal and professional dilemmas, in "The Blue Mirror," authentic hospital scenes are laced with realistic diagnoses and explicit surgical procedures. Provocative life and death situations faced by both doctors and patients are sensitively portrayed.
Book Synopsis The Woman Who Wouldn't by : Gene Wilder
Download or read book The Woman Who Wouldn't written by Gene Wilder and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2008-03-04 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The beloved actor and screenwriter's second novel, set in 1903, stars a young concert violinist named Jeremy Webb, who one day goes from accomplished adagios with the Cleveland Orchestra to having a complete breakdown on stage. If he hadn't poured a glass of water down the throat of a tuba, maybe he wouldn't have been sent to a health resort in Badenweiler, Germany. But it's in that serene place that Jeremy meets Clara Mulpas, whom he tries his hardest to seduce. Clara is so beautiful that Jeremy finds it impossible to keep from trying to find a chink in her extraordinary reserve and elegance. He finds himself reflexively flirting to get a reaction—after all, a tease and a wink have always worked before, with women back home. But flirting probably isn't the best way to appeal to a woman who was married to a dumb brute and doesn't want to have anything more to do with men. Jeremy isn't sure how to press his case—but he won't give up. Wilder's prose is elegant, spare and affecting. But it's his romantic's eye for the intense emotions that animate a real love story that makes The Woman Who Wouldn't an unforgettable book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A funny, disturbing, and deeply affecting novel of power, corruption, and innocence in colonial Africa, by the author of Terms & Conditions. As the African nation of Bwalo prepares for The Big Day--the only day in the year the ailing King talks to his subjects--we meet five very different people: Charlie, a curious boy with a dangerous dictaphone habit, eavesdrops on the eccentric guests of the Mirage Hotel. Sean, an Irishman who's given his heart (and the best part of his liver) to Bwalo, struggles to write the great African novel--if only his crazed fiancée and fierce thirst would stop distracting him. Josef, the mythmaker and kingmaker who paved the way for Tafumo's rise to power, starts to hear the ominous rattle of skeletons in his closet. Hope, the nurse caring for the King, keeps the old man alive, maintaining the façade of the powerful ruler as she mourns her own broken dreams. And in the countdown to the Big Day, storm clouds gather as a petty criminal, Jack, smuggles something into Bwalo--specifically to the Mirage Hotel--that will change the lives of all of them forever.
