This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In logistics systems, the issue of planning stability has attracted increased attention and interest in recent years. This is mainly due to an increasing integration of planning systems both within and across companies in supply chain management. The propagation of adjustments in planning systems first acquired wide attention when MRP systems were employed as standard planning tools for material coordination. Within a rolling horizon framework the MRP application produced considerable planning instability which origins from uncertainties in the planner's exogenous environment as well as from endogenous sources. This book presents an analytical investigation that gives deep insight into the influence of different kind of inventory control rules on the stability of material planning systems under stochastic demand in a rolling horizon environment.

Book Synopsis Complex Systems Approach to Economic Dynamics by : Abraham C.-L. Chian
Download or read book Complex Systems Approach to Economic Dynamics written by Abraham C.-L. Chian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-08-17 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistical analysis of stock markets and foreign exchange markets has demonstrated the intermittent nature of economic time series. A nonlinear model of business cycles is able to simulate intermittency arising from order-chaos and chaos-chaos transitions. This monograph introduces new concepts of unstable periodic orbits and chaotic saddles, which are unstable structures embedded in a chaotic attractor and responsible for economic intermittency.
Book Synopsis Material Requirement Planning System by : R. R. K. Sharma
Download or read book Material Requirement Planning System written by R. R. K. Sharma and published by Vitasta Publishing Pvt.Limited. This book was released on 2008 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks to give better solutions to managers managing MRP systems in manufacturing organizations. It introduces the concept of multi-pass heuristics in MRP context and shows that in variety of conditions of the shop floor (such as high and low variations in machine utilisation) these (multi-pass given in this book) can be applied to give better performance on the criterion of total aggregate (or units) lateness with insignificant rise in total costs The author explains a heuristic that modifies the holding cost (of items/assemblies that have higher difference of actual and the theoretical holding costs) and empirically shows that this is better than the heuristic that modified the lead time (of items/assemblies that have higher difference of actual and the theoretical holding costs). The book also talks about a series of heuristics that seek to attain co-ordinated arrival of assemblies at assembly centers with encouraging results
Book Synopsis Kanban-Controlled Manufacturing Systems by : Georg Krieg
Download or read book Kanban-Controlled Manufacturing Systems written by Georg Krieg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-03-30 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 5th Werner Kern Award for Productivity Research 2005 Kanban control systems bear a great potential to significantly improve operations. A company may reap the full benefits of kanban control only after determining an optimal or near-optimal system configuration. To do that, methods are needed to evaluate the performance and operating costs of individual system configurations. We propose an innovative construction-kit approach that enables us to build stochastic analytical models of a large class of single- and multi-product kanban systems. The presented construction-kit approach may be extended and augmented in various directions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reconciles the existence of technical trading with the Efficient Market Hypothesis. By analyzing a well-known agent-based model, the Santa Fe Institute Artificial Stock Market (SFI-ASM), it finds that when selective forces are weak, financial evolution cannot guarantee that only the fittest trading rules will survive. Its main contribution lies in the application of standard results from population genetics which have widely been neglected in the agent-based community.
