Book excerpt: Black Silk Pajamas is the unique, true love story of Mia Thi Nguyen, former First Lady of South Vietnam and her husband Prime Minister Loc Van Nguyen. She grew from a poor village girl to a freedom fighter and secret agent in her war torn country. Black Silk Pajamas recounts Mais undying faith in a premonition of becoming the wife of her God-chosen husband, Prime Minister Loc Van Nguyen and tells of the pain and suffering Mai endured for her love of family, country, and freedom. Ms. Nguyens story begins with her as a young lady, trained in the art of espionage. Her story chronicles her first deadly experiences as a courier of top-secret documents, her imprisonment in Viet Cong concentration camps, and her subsequent escapes. Living much of her adult life in Vietnam with a price on her head, Mai eventually, through her faith in destiny, arranged to meet the Prime Minister. Although married, he instantly fell in love with Mai, and several years later divorced his wife and married her. This story tells of harrowing accounts of her many attempts to flee South Vietnam with Prime Minister Nguyen and their newborn infant daughter, failing more than fifteen times. Finally, after several years they succeeded, but became separated from each other. They were part of the boat people and joined more than a million other Vietnamese refugees to flee the now communist ruled country. They floated for weeks in the South China Sea praying for rescue, political asylum and a better life in America.

Download or read book PJ's Story written by Josephine Pelt and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-11-03 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PJ's story is not a story about rags to riches. It is a test of true love, faith, and strength! The story is about a young African American girl growing up in one of the poorest segregated parts of Southern Alabama. From the time she was a young girl, PJ had dreams of moving to the big city and becoming a successful business woman. The story chronicles PJ's struggling childhood homelife to adulthood and to single-parenthood. It tells of her journey to what she called the big-city life and all the struggles and trials she faced along the way trying to find love in the men she encountered in her life and to fulfill her dreams of success. Through all her struggles and trials, PJ had to learn the hard way that her quest to find love and success in people was not God's plan for her life. She had to learn that in order to achieve those things, she had to put God first and follow his commands. She learned that love doesn't come from getting God and people to love you, but it comes from you, getting to love God, people, and yourself. PJ learned that it doesn't matter if you have a two-parent home or a single-parent home. What matters is that you do your best to raise your children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, teaching them the value and the true meaning of love from God's perspective. No matter what path your children may take, always love them unconditionally and always pray for protection over their lives. In other words, "stand in the gap" for your children and all your family members, and watch God work!

Book Synopsis Ruthless Pamela Jean by : Carol Denise Mitchell
Download or read book Ruthless Pamela Jean written by Carol Denise Mitchell and published by CDMBOOKS. This book was released on 2021-07-18 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This gripping story about an abused girl, who uses the unlikely prototype of a pimp as a guide to a better life, acts as a sort of metaphor of social realism regarding the rise of African Americans to greater prominence and wealth in modern society as a whole. The narrative, which is closely written, and uses a realistic version of African American speech soon draws us into the central dilemma of a child, who due to her light skin, is rejected by the other children in her school, this then leads to her being ostracized, bullied and at one point even her life is threatened. When she retaliates, in order to save herself, the system unfairly punishes her. Female sexual frustration is not something that often appears in the media which tends to center upon ladies complaining about the unwelcome attentions of men, but this book tends to show that many older women are deprived of fulfilment of their intimate needs by social niceties and prudery. Pamela is acutely aware of this problem and does something to provide relief for these women – at a price, via a very successful escort service.
Book Synopsis Going Down Jericho Road: The Memphis Strike, Martin Luther King's Last Campaign by : Michael K. Honey
Download or read book Going Down Jericho Road: The Memphis Strike, Martin Luther King's Last Campaign written by Michael K. Honey and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2011-02-07 with total page 665 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The definitive history of the epic struggle for economic justice that became Martin Luther King Jr.'s last crusade. Memphis in 1968 was ruled by a paternalistic "plantation mentality" embodied in its good-old-boy mayor, Henry Loeb. Wretched conditions, abusive white supervisors, poor education, and low wages locked most black workers into poverty. Then two sanitation workers were chewed up like garbage in the back of a faulty truck, igniting a public employee strike that brought to a boil long-simmering issues of racial injustice. With novelistic drama and rich scholarly detail, Michael Honey brings to life the magnetic characters who clashed on the Memphis battlefield: stalwart black workers; fiery black ministers; volatile, young, black-power advocates; idealistic organizers and tough-talking unionists; the first black members of the Memphis city council; the white upper crust who sought to prevent change or conflagration; and, finally, the magisterial Martin Luther King Jr., undertaking a Poor People's Campaign at the crossroads of his life, vilified as a subversive, hounded by the FBI, and seeing in the working poor of Memphis his hopes for a better America.
Book Synopsis One Face In A Million by : William K. Bond
Download or read book One Face In A Million written by William K. Bond and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One Face in a Million is an entirely fictional story evolved over many years. The author began thinking about writing a story after he visited southern Africa in 1967, where his wife had been born and raised and was often called Mu Shangaaniana when she was young. He began to formulate a story about a young gal who had been raised on a mission station in Mozambique. She was anxious to leave Africa for America to have a more interesting life. A plot formed in his my mind, and he envisioned a striking gal having a life that was quite amazing. She would travel and fall in love, meet notable people, and experience a lot of success. Would that prove to be satisfying for her? During the years that followed, William was privileged to travel to many places throughout the world, so his story evolved in a way that readers could share in some of his traveling experiences. His protagonist had to decide what was really important in her life. Her story takes place across the span of a few decades; therefore, the story eventually developed into a series of five books, which should be considered as one. Because the title is One Face in a Million, William knew her appearance would be of real interest. He looked at images of several notable actresses of the past, but the one that he preferred was of Merle Oberon. Perhaps it would be just as well for any reader to formulate their own ideas of what his characters would look like. Although this is a fictitious story, he hopes that it entertains those who choose to read it.
