I've put it all in song and verse of country music for the enjoyment of all who participate in gold mining or dream of the opportunity to do a little panning somewhere down the road. Come along for the laugh's! There may not be any gold! Sometimes, if it comes from a gold miner it's probably all 24 carat anyway !----- Fun, that is!!! Beware of the sworn "On My Mother's Grave"truth, the half truth and the downright lie because it is all typical of a gold camp! I don't think some of these Gold Miners had a Mother! If you long to be a Real Gold Miner then read this whole account slow, very carefully, and pay real close attention because: --- There may be a "Little" truth in it!!! How much gold mining equipment can a man have before his wife throws him out? Well, I don't know for sure; but I'm afraid that I'm getting close to finding out!,

It’s a growing time in the camp; new residents are moving in and seasoned residents are going about their lives as best they can. Now the old superintendant has adopted a new policy, one that uses children on his bone picking belt. It is a cruel policy that allows company bosses to pay very little to clean rock from their precious coal. The camp’s school marm has fallen in love with Mountain Moonshiner Thurman Light. When a union organizer insults his beauty, we wonder if Thurman will enact some sort of mountain revenge. More murder, mayhem, and mining await on the pages of Pickin’ Bone in the Bible Belt. Come on along.

Book excerpt: When a young Richie Furay moved to New York hoping to make it big in folk music, God wasn’t one of his concerns. But destiny was. Later, when he started Buffalo Springfield with Neil Young and Stephen Stills, it seemed Furay’s destiny had finally arrived. Although the band recorded only three albums, it remains a touchstone of sixties rock music–with all five band members now enshrined in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Furay remained a musical pioneer, forming Poco and recording some of the first–and best–country rock music of the sixties and seventies. His work was a major influence on the Eagles and innumerable other bands. But he still had not found his destiny. It wasn’t until his marriage almost disintegrated that Furay confronted his need for God. After co-founding two legendary bands and recording with a rock super-group, Richie Furay finally found his destiny. The long journey took him from sold-out arena concerts to the pulpit of a Colorado church, from rock royalty to the Rock of Ages. Destiny is often found in the places where we’re not looking. As you follow the twists and turns in Richie Furay’s inspiring journey, you’ll gain fresh insight into your own.

Understanding that black is who we are. But not all that we are. Knowing that our talents, education, and beauty are what define us. This book of poetry is inspired by the Harlem Renaissance period. When modern-day poetry was persuaded by jazz. That focused on human behavior, love, and a passion to dance. Where the most powerful poems centered around the past, present, and future. Realizing that self-expression had become the common theme. Giving you all of that of figurative language, idiomatic expressions, and Ebonics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pickin’ Cotton on the Way to Church highlights the life of Father Boniface Hardin, a Benedictine monk. James Dwight Randolph (Randy) Hardin was born on November 18, 1933, in Bardstown, Kentucky, educated in Catholic schools in Kentucky, and thirteen years old when he asked to become a priest. Excluded from the seminaries in Kentucky because of his race, he enrolled in Saint Meinrad Seminary in Spencer County, Indiana, which had just started accepting black students. After six years of study he took his vows as monk and was given the name Boniface. He was ordained a priest in 1959 and attained a graduate degree in 1963. In 1965 Father Hardin accepted the position of associate pastor at Holy Angels Catholic Church, a predominately black parish in Indianapolis. Father Hardin was a social activist who spoke out against poverty, segregation, police brutality, and fought against the construction of an interstate highway that would adversely affect the black community. Such actions were considered inappropriate for a priest and the Archbishop of Indianapolis removed him from his position at Holy Angels. Although reinstated due to public outcries, Father Hardin soon left Holy Angels, and, along with Sister Jane Shilling, opened the Martin Center, where they could advocate full time for the poor and disenfranchised through a series of programs and services. Realizing the correlation between education and career advancement, Father Boniface and Sister Jane founded Martin University, the only predominately African American institution of higher learning in Indiana. The university continues to play a unique role in the community, with a special focus on educational opportunities to those who have been too often discounted, discouraged, and disregarded by society. Although Father Hardin was widely known in Indiana during his lifetime, accumulating many awards and honors, it is important to document his life and work for posterity. It is hoped that this volume will provide an overview of his story and lay the foundation for other scholarly efforts.

As the author of the book and curriculum, I had the honor and privilege of working with some of today's foremost Christian thinkers, authors, and pastors on the subject of what it takes to live out your faith as a modern day Good Samaritan. Imagine spending time with Philip Yancey, Chuck Colson, Desmond Tutu, John Ortberg, Eugene Peterson, Joni Eareckson Tada, Rich Stearns, and Kay Warren--just to name a few--talking about practical, real ways to live like a Good Samaritan. It was insightful, instructive and inspiring. But most of all it was approachable and real! What does my experience working with these very prominent Christians have to do with writing the forward for Jim's book? I'll use those words again--"approachable and real..." --Michael Seaton; Author--Start> Becoming a Good Samaritan (excerpt from foreword)

Pickin' on Peachtree traces Atlanta's emergence in the 1920s as a major force in country recording and radio broadcasting and its forty years as a hub of country music. From the Old Time Fiddlers' Conventions and barn dances through the rise of station WSB and other key radio outlets, Wayne W. Daniel thoroughly documents the consolidation of country music as big business in Atlanta. He also profiles a vast array of performers, radio personalities, and recording moguls who transformed the Peachtree city into the nerve center of early country music.
