Download or read book Microreaction Technology written by M. Matlosz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IMRET 5 featured more than 80 oral and poster communications, covering the entire interdisciplinary field from design, production, modeling and characterization of microreactor devices to application of microstructured systems for production, energy and transportation, including many analytical and biological applications. A particularly strong topic was the investigation of the potential of microstructuring of reactors and systems components for process intensification. Perspectives of combining local, in situ, data acquisition with appropriate microstructuring of actuators and components within chemical and biological devices were explored in order to enhance process performance and facilitate process control.
Book Synopsis Systems Architecture Modeling with the Arcadia Method by : Pascal Roques

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systems Architecture Modeling with the Arcadia Method is an illustrative guide for the understanding and implementation of model-based systems and architecture engineering with the Arcadia method, using Capella, a new open-source solution. More than just another systems modeling tool, Capella is a comprehensive and extensible Eclipse application that has been successfully deployed in a wide variety of industrial contexts. Based on a graphical modeling workbench, it provides systems architects with rich methodological guidance using the Arcadia method and modeling language. Intuitive model editing and advanced viewing capabilities improve modeling quality and productivity, and help engineers focus on the design of the system and its architecture. This book is the first to help readers discover the richness of the Capella solution. - Describes the tooled implementation of the Arcadia method - Highlights the toolset widely deployed on operational projects in all Thales domains worldwide (defense, aerospace, transportation, etc.) - Emphasizes the author's pedagogical experience on the methods and the tools gained through conducting more than 80 training sessions for a thousand engineers at Thales University - Examines the emergence of an ecosystem of organizations, including industries that would drive the Capella roadmap according to operational needs, service and technology suppliers who would develop their business around the solution, and academics who would pave the future of the engineering ecosystem

Book excerpt: Global air transport is experiencing a steady growth, which is forecasted to continue over the coming years and decades. The aeronautical industry is a key sector of the European economy in a highly competitive international context. In order to ensure the environmental sustainability of this growth, while strengthening Europe's place among the worldwide frontrunners for preserving and creating jobs in this sector, European and national authorities have mobilised, together with industry. Clean Sky is the flagship of a vast effort which spans from science to technological innovation. A public-private partnership, this so-called "Joint Undertaking" is a new kind of structure, a joint effort of the European Commission and hundreds of industrial aeronautical firms. Started in 2008, it has since been widened through a considerable financial increase, within the framework of Europe's most ambitious research programme ever, Horizon 2020. The point is to imagine, foster and test innovative technologies in order to reduce, in particular, the acoustic impact and carbon footprint of aircraft. Those projects make reference to well-defined directions in research and development, favour rational investment and promote cooperation between industry, research centres, universities and Small and Medium Enterprises. But just how will the European Union contribute to progress in the field of excellence which is aeronautics? Join us in discovering what is in store for the coming decades, in the spirit of a shared adventure, combining imagination with real-life experiences which shed light on the stakes, not only for science and the environment, but also for society and the economy. It is an enterprise which lifts the curtain equally on the will of public authorities and on private players, participating together for the good of a European dream, founded on that which is most promising: research and innovation.

Book Synopsis Sintering and Related Phenomena by : G. Kuczynski
Download or read book Sintering and Related Phenomena written by G. Kuczynski and published by Springer. This book was released on 1973-01-01 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume there is set forth the text of the Pro ceedings of the Third International Conference on Sintering and Related Phenomena, which conference was held at the University of Notre Dame on June 5-7, 1972. This conference was the seventh in the series of University Conferences on Ceramic Science organized yearly by a happy "confederation" of four institutions; North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina; the University of California, Berkeley, California; Alfred University, Alfred, New York; and the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, Indiana. The 1972 Conference at Notre Dame was devoted to prob lems of sintering and allied phenomena. Previous gatherings at Notre Dame took place in 1954 and 1965. The proceedings of the first Notre Dame Conference were not published by reason of the conviction that a free forum similar in spirit to the Gordon Conferences should prevail. However, discus sions of the second Conference were preserved for posterity in a rather substantial volume (894 pp) published by Gordon and Breach in 1967. As the spirit of free exchange of ideas was not diminished by threat of publication of the revela tions of the second Notre Dame Conference, we deemed it just that the 1972 Proceedings be made public. Thus the present volume is a report upon progress realized in our science during the past six years.
