Book Synopsis Involuntary Movements by : Hiroshi Shibasaki
Download or read book Involuntary Movements written by Hiroshi Shibasaki and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book is aimed at describing clinical features of various kinds of involuntary movements by demonstrating a number of cases on video. All cases presented in this book were directly observed and studied by at least one of the five authors. We will also discuss the current consensus about the classification, pathophysiology and current treatment of each involuntary movement. This book adopts a unique way of looking at movement disorders; that is considering two aspects of the diagnosis, axis 1, the phenomenology and, axis 2, the etiology and/or pathophysiology. The visual appearance (video) is a big part of axis 1"--

Book Synopsis Sensorimotor Control of Movement and Posture by : Simon C. Gandevia
Download or read book Sensorimotor Control of Movement and Posture written by Simon C. Gandevia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of contributions on the subject of the neural mechanisms of sensorimotor control resulted from a conference held in Cairns, Australia, September 3-6, 2001. While the three of us were attending the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) Congress in St Petersburg, Russia, in 1997, we discussed the implications of the next Congress being awarded to New Zealand. We agreed to organise a satellite to this congress in an area of mutual interest -the neuroscience of movement and sensation. Australia has a long-standing and enviable reputation in the field of neural mechanisms of sensorimotor control. Arguably this reached its peak with the award of a Nobel Prize to Sir John Eccles in 1963 for his work on synaptic transmission in the central nervous system. Since that time, the subject of neuroscience has progressed considerably. One advance is the exploitation of knowledge acquired from animal experiments to studies on conscious human subjects. In this development, Australians have achieved international prominence, particularly in the areas of kinaesthesia and movement control. This bias is evident in the choice of subject matter for the conference and, subsequently, this book. It was also decided to assign a whole section to muscle mechanics, a subject that is often left out altogether from conferences on motor control. Cairns is a lovely city and September is a good time to visit it.
Download or read book Migration written by Hugh Dingle and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2014 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Migration, broadly defined as directional movement to take advantage of spatially distributed resources, is a dramatic behaviour and an important component of many life histories that can contribute to the fundamental structuring of ecosystems. In recent years, our understanding of migration has advanced radically with respect to both new data and conceptual understanding. It is now almost twenty years since publication of the first edition, and an authoritative and up-to-date sequel that provides a taxonomically comprehensive overview of the latest research is therefore timely. The emphasis throughout this advanced textbook is on the definition and description of migratory behaviour, its ecological outcomes for individuals, populations, and communities, and how these outcomes lead to natural selection acting on the behaviour to cause its evolution. It takes a truly integrative approach, showing how comparisons across a diversity of organisms and biological disciplines can illuminate migratory life cycles, their evolution, and the relation of migration to other movements. Migration: The Biology of Life on the Move focuses on migration as a behavioural phenomenon with important ecological consequences for organisms as diverse as aphids, butterflies, birds and whales. It is suitable for senior undergraduate and graduate level students taking courses in behaviour, spatial ecology, 'movement ecology', and conservation. It will also be of interest and use to a broader audience of professional ecologists and behaviourists seeking an authoritative overview of this rapidly expanding field.
Book Synopsis The Bereitschaftspotential by : Marjan Jahanshahi
Download or read book The Bereitschaftspotential written by Marjan Jahanshahi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kornhuber and Deecke first recorded and reported the Bereitschaftspotential in 1964.
