Book Synopsis Phase Instability During Low-Cycle Fatigue by : Carl Altsletter
Download or read book Phase Instability During Low-Cycle Fatigue written by Carl Altsletter and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of phase instability on plastic deformation was studied. The long range objective was to determine in what way martensitic and and diffusional transformation during deformation may be used to improve the mechanical properties of high strength steel. Consideration will be given to the transformation of austenite under stress, to the acceleration of diffusional processes by cyclic loading and to the effect of these processes during low cycle fatigue of unstable stainless steel. The program was a careful study of the phase changes and the mechanisms of these changes which take place as a result of plastic deformation of steel, rather than the production of large quantities of empirical data. The results of the program are briefly summarized. (Author).
Book Synopsis Phase Instability During Low Cycle Fatigue of Steel by : Carl J. Altstetter
Download or read book Phase Instability During Low Cycle Fatigue of Steel written by Carl J. Altstetter and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies of the relationship between martensitic transformation and low cycle fatigue have been carried out with a variety of related austenitic stainless steels. In addition to using composition as a variable, other effects such as test temperature, heat treatment and loading program were studied. Fatigue life under controlled strain amplitude conditions was determined, while the amount of alpha' martensite was continuously monitored. Optical, SEM and TEM metallographic results were used to interpret the mechanical behavior. Some studies on strain aging vs. cyclic deformation of iron and mild steel were also carried out. (Author).
Book Synopsis Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto-Plastic Behaviour of Materials by : P.D. Portella
Download or read book Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto-Plastic Behaviour of Materials written by P.D. Portella and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-09-30 with total page 890 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 4th International Conference on Low Cycle Fatigue and Elasto-Plastic Behaviour of Materials was held from 7-11 September 1998 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. In response to a call for papers, nearly 200 extended abstracts from 32 countries were submitted to the organizing committee. These papers were presented at the conference as invited lectures or short contributions and as oral or poster presentation. All the papers were presented in poster form in extended poster sessions–a peculiarity of the LCF Conferences which allows an intense, thorough discussion of all contributions. Each chapter provides a comprehensive overview of a materials class or a given subject. Many contributions could have been included in two or even three chapters and so, in order to give a better overview of the content, the reader will find a subject index, a material index and an author index in the back of the book.

Book excerpt: This book gives a brief history of the development of Alloy 625 and a detailed account of its physical, mechanical, and corrosion properties. It also addresses different types of microstructural changes the Alloy 625 undergoes at intermediate temperatures; provides details of properties deterioration due to such microstructural changes; assesses the alloy damage during the in-service inspection of plants; and provides criteria for the damage evaluation for various destructive and non-destructive testing. It combines the industrial data and literature together in one place for damage assessment of service exposed Alloy 625 components. This book serves as a guide to practicing engineers in the industry interested in the use of Alloy 625 and in academia for students pursuing advanced courses in materials science. Alloy 625 is a versatile nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy known for its unique combination of high strength, excellent fabricability and weldability, and outstanding corrosion resistance.

Book Synopsis Modern Mechanical Surface Treatment by : Volker Schulze
Download or read book Modern Mechanical Surface Treatment written by Volker Schulze and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-05-12 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only comprehensive, systematic comparison of major mechanical surface treatments, their effects, and the resulting material properties. The result is an up-to-date, full review of this topic, collating the knowledge hitherto spread throughout many original papers. The book begins with a description of elementary processes and mechanisms to give readers an easy introduction, before proceeding to offer systematic, detailed descriptions of the various techniques and three very important types of loading: thermal, quasistatic, and cyclic loading. It combines and correlates experimental and model aspects, while supplying in-depth explanations of the mechanisms and a very high amount of exemplary data.
