Book Synopsis Black's Student Veterinary Dictionary by : Edward Boden
Download or read book Black's Student Veterinary Dictionary written by Edward Boden and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-03-24 with total page 985 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A paperback edition for the student market, this standard work of reference has been a bestseller for over 70 years. It is an essential tool for anyone with a professional or leisure interest in the care of animals. Much more than a list of veterinary terms, its practical approach ensures that readers gain an insight into the signs and symptoms of common, and less common, diseases, as well as their diagnosis and treatment. For this edition much new and updated information has been included, reflecting the numerous developments that have taken place in animal care and husbandry, and welfare. There is greatly expanded coverage of topics relating to popular breeds of dog and cat, and the inheritable conditions that might affect their health. Advances in medicine, surgery and diagnostic techniques; descriptions of newly identified diseases such as Schmallenberg virus; the resurgence of old scourges such as TB in cattle, and ongoing enzootic infections such as bird flu are also included in this edition. The growing risk of exotic diseases such as heartworm being imported following the relaxation of travel arrangements for dogs and cats is reflected in new entries. Notes on many new species being farmed or kept as companion animals are among the thousands of topics covered.

Book Synopsis Combinatorics and Complexity of Partition Functions by : Alexander Barvinok
Download or read book Combinatorics and Complexity of Partition Functions written by Alexander Barvinok and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-13 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Partition functions arise in combinatorics and related problems of statistical physics as they encode in a succinct way the combinatorial structure of complicated systems. The main focus of the book is on efficient ways to compute (approximate) various partition functions, such as permanents, hafnians and their higher-dimensional versions, graph and hypergraph matching polynomials, the independence polynomial of a graph and partition functions enumerating 0-1 and integer points in polyhedra, which allows one to make algorithmic advances in otherwise intractable problems. The book unifies various, often quite recent, results scattered in the literature, concentrating on the three main approaches: scaling, interpolation and correlation decay. The prerequisites include moderate amounts of real and complex analysis and linear algebra, making the book accessible to advanced math and physics undergraduates.

Book Synopsis La représentation institutionnelle dans l'ordre international by : Evelyne Lagrange
Download or read book La représentation institutionnelle dans l'ordre international written by Evelyne Lagrange and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-18 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Fictioning Namibia as a Space of Desire by : Renzo Baas
Download or read book Fictioning Namibia as a Space of Desire written by Renzo Baas and published by BASLER AFRIKA BIBLIOGRAPHIEN. This book was released on 2019-03-28 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern-day Namibian history has largely been shaped by three major eras: German colonial rule, South African apartheid occupation, and the Liberation Struggle. It was, however, not only military conquest that laid the cornerstone for the colony, but also how the colony was imagined, the ‘dream’ of this colony. As a tool of discursive worldmaking, literature has played a major role in providing a framework in which to ‘dream’ Namibia, first from outside its borders, and then from within. In Fictioning Namibia as a Space of Desire, Renzo Baas employs Henri Lefebvre’s city–countryside dialectic and reworks it in order to uncover how fictional texts played an integral part in the violent acquisition of a foreign territory. Through the production of myths around whiteness, German and South African authors designed a literary space in which control, destruction, and the dehumanisation of African peoples are understood as a natural order, one that is dictated by history and its linear continuation. These European texts are offset by Namibia’s first novel by an African, offering a counter-narrative to the colonial invention that was (German) South West Africa.
