Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many kinds of nuc1ear data books; however some are too much specialized, while others have an arrangement of information which is inconvenient for students to use. With this book, we want to amend these situations. Handbooks of natural sciences must be exact and fair in their presentation of materials and they must be logical and convenient to use. If the users can develop new ideas or gain new insights from the books, they can be judged as valuable. The role of handbooks is not only to give a systematic representation of past knowledge, but also to serve as a basis for intellectual activity leading to future development. The purpose of this data book arises from the points described above. The chart of the nuc1ides which is frequently consulted by radioisotope users is not always convenient. By comparison, our Periodic Table with Nuc1ides has been devised with this in mind. It has been our experience that properties of a desired nuclide could be found in a much shorter time in the Periodic Table with Nuc1ides than in other nuc1ide charts. Additionally, by placing the ~-stabi1ity line within the nuc1ides in the table, the users may derive unam biguous ideas on the stability of the nuc1ides and the paths related to the creation of stable elements in the universe.

Book Synopsis A Compendium of Geochemistry by : Yuan-Hui Li
Download or read book A Compendium of Geochemistry written by Yuan-Hui Li and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ever-increasing concern over environmental degradation, together with recent technological advances, has spawned an explosion of chemical data for a wide variety of matter found on earth and in the solar system. Yuan-Hui Li's book offers professionals and students alike an indispensable up-to-date guide to geochemistry, bringing together new information on topics ranging from nucleosynthesis to crystal chemistry, from the systematics of chemical variation in the earth's core to the composition of complex organics. The objective is to illustrate the physicochemical principles and various natural processes that can explain observed compositional changes in natural substances. A general understanding of these principles and processes (including those pertaining to cosmology, geology, and biology) is essential, maintains the author, for deciphering and predicting transport pathways and final sinks of anthropogenic pollutants in our environment. The book focuses on compositional data and related references for such substances as solar photosphere, meteorites, igneous rocks, soils, sedimentary rocks, surficial waters, marine and terrestrial organisms (including humans), and aerosols. It emphasizes the use of original raw data as much as possible, and applies the statistical technique of factor analysis to elucidate any underlying interrelationships among chemical elements and given sample sets. Whenever applicable, simple chemical thermodynamic models are introduced to explain the observed partitioning of elements among different phases.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclides.net describes an integrated environment for computations on radionuclides and their radiation. In addition to providing the necessary background on radionuclides and radiation, the accompanying CD-ROM, for Microsoft Windows operating systems, offers extensive information on the physics and radiology of familiar nuclides. Through an electronic nuclide chart, the user can access codes, via the Internet, for a number of applications which allow the required data to be computed quickly and reliably by means of interactive user guidance. Nuclides.net can be used for teaching, research, and for practical applications.

Book Synopsis Spectrometric Identification of Organic Compounds by : Robert M. Silverstein
Download or read book Spectrometric Identification of Organic Compounds written by Robert M. Silverstein and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-09-29 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published over 40 years ago, this was the first text on the identification of organic compounds using spectroscopy. This text is now considered to be a classic. This text presents a unified approach to the structure determination of organic compounds based largely on mass spectrometry, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and multinuclear and multidimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The key strength of this text is the extensive set of practice and real-data problems (in Chapters 7 and 8). Even professional chemists use these spectra as reference data. Spectrometric Identification of Organic Compounds is written by and for organic chemists, and emphasizes the synergistic effect resulting from the interplay of the spectra. This book is characterized by its problem-solving approach with extensive reference charts and tables. The 8th edition of this text maintains its student-friendly writing style - wording throughout has been updated for consistency and to be more reflective of modern usage and methods. Chapter 3 on proton NMR spectroscopy has been overhauled and updated. Also, new information on polymers and phosphorus functional groups has been added to Chapter 2 on IR spectroscopy.
