This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, SIld disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna and broader dissemination. tional publishing house to assure improved service Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 30 (thesis year 1985) a total of 12,400 theses titles from 26 Canadian and 186 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fully updated Fifth Edition of John H. Bickford's classic work, updated by Michael Oliver, provides a practical, detailed guide for the design threaded bolted joints, the tightening of threaded joints, and the latest design procedures for long-term life. New sections on materials, threads, and their strength have been added, and coverage of FEA for design analysis is now included. Referencing the latest standards, this new edition combines fastener materials, explanation of how fasteners are made, and how fasteners fit together, supplementing the basic design coverage included in previous versions of this authoritative text. Introduction to the Design and Behavior of Bolted Joints: Non-Gasketed Joints will be of interest to engineers involved in the design and testing of bolted joints.

Download or read book Assessment of Modification Factors for a Row of Bolts Or Timber Connectors written by Thomas Lee Wilkinson and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When bolts or timber connectors are used in a row, with load applied parallel to the row, load will be unequally distributed among the fasteners. This study assessed methods of predicting this unequal load distribution, looked at how joint variables can affect the distribution, and compared the predictions with data existing in the literature. Presently used design procedures were also assessed. The analytical methods were found to predict proportional limit loads but not joint strength. (Author).

Book Synopsis Performance of Bolted Wood-to-Concrete Connections and Bolted Connections in Plywood Shear Walls by : Donald Anthony Jones
Download or read book Performance of Bolted Wood-to-Concrete Connections and Bolted Connections in Plywood Shear Walls written by Donald Anthony Jones and published by . This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the aftermath of recent earthquakes in populated areas, observations of wood- frame residential and commercial construction have revealed damage to plywood shear walls in the form of splitting of the sill plate along the line of anchor bolts in the foundation and of the end post along the bolts in the hold-down connection. This paper presents an experimental investigation of the sill plate connection, using a variety of bolt sizes and member thicknesses. The investigation also includes full-scale studies of plywood shear wall assemblies. Standard connections are examined as well as connections strengthened with reinforcing clamps. These clamps are shown to increase strength and energy absorption in wood-to-concrete and wood-to-wood connections where the failure mode is splitting of the wood member. The reinforcing clamps are shown to increase the stiffness and energy dissipation of a shear wall specimen.
