Book excerpt: Introduction : Le vieillissement de la population est associé à une augmentation de la prévalence des maladies neurocognitives de type maladie d'Alzheimer ou maladie apparentée, d'étiologie neurodégénérative ou acquise. En comptant les proches ces maladies impacteraient trois millions de personnes en France. Le choix du maintien à domicile reste l'option privilégiée, conduisant généralement le conjoint ou un enfant à devenir un« aidant naturel ”. Le médecin généraliste a un rôle central dans la prise en charge mais peut se heurter à plusieurs difficultés. Les attentes des aidants envers leur médecin peuvent varier. C'est pourquoi il nous a semblé pertinent de faire un état de lieux de la prise en charge des aidants par les médecins généralistes. Un travail de thèse a été réalisé conjointement afin de recueillir le ressenti et les attentes des aidants, dans le but d'en confronter les deux points de vue. Matériel et Méthode : Il s'agit d'une étude quantitative. descriptive, réalisée auprès de médecins généralistes exerçant dans le Doubs et en Haute-Saône. Le questionnaire était composé de 27 questions. divisé en cinq parties. Il a été diffusé par voie électronique à 698 médecins, 98 réponses ont été obtenues. Résultats: 73 réponses ont été incluses, soit un taux de participation de 10,46 %. 47,9 % des médecins pensaient méconnaître le rôle d'aidant de leurs patients. 49,3 % des médecins considéraient plutôt l'aidant comme un partenaire de soin. 30,1 % des aidants connaissaient la recommandation de réaliser annuellement une consultation dédiée aux aidants. 52,1 % ne s'estimaient pas suffisamment aidés dans la prise en charge. 69,9 % des médecins estimaient que les aidants étaient réticents à accepter de l'aide. Discussion : L'étude a montré que les médecins n'avaient pas systématiquement connaissance du rôle d'aidant de leurs patients ce qui pouvait avoir un impact sur leur prise en charge. La perception de l'aidant par le médecin n'avait pas d'influence dans sa prise en charge. Ils estimaient communiquer une information claire de la maladie et de son évolution aux aidants et pensaient bien répondre à leurs attentes. Ils regrettaient leur manque de connaissances et le manque de coordination entre professionnels. Conclusion : Cette étude a permis de croiser le regard des aidants et des médecins généralistes qui œuvrent ensemble dans le but de prendre soin du proche atteint. Connaître les attentes des aidants peut permettre aux médecins d'améliorer la prise en charge globale du binôme aidant-aidé et de prévenir l'épuisement de l'aidant, souvent synonyme d'institutionnalisation de l'aidé
