This book was released on 1976 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report proposes orderly methods of selecting a qualified police chief executive and of retaining him after selection. It also suggests means by which communities can increase the effectiveness of their police chief executives by ensuring the authority, resources, and tenure necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the positions properly. In addition, this report sets out procedures, grounded on American constitutional notions of fairness and due process, for removing an unqualified police chief executive from office. The eighteen standards presented, along with their related commentaries, were developed and reviewed by the police chief executive committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), which, with funding support from the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration (LEAA), conducted a yearlong study into the role and position of police chief executives. The appendix contains a discussion of the research methodology, copies of the survey questionnaires, and statistical summaries of questionnaire responses. An index is provided.

Book Synopsis Choosing Excellence in Public Schools by : David W. Hornbeck
Download or read book Choosing Excellence in Public Schools written by David W. Hornbeck and published by R&L Education. This book was released on 2009-06-15 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Choosing Excellence in Public Schools explains the origins of the low expectations we have of children, including, notably, children of color, those for whom English is a second language, poor children and children with disabilities. The book dispels the basis for low expectations. It makes clear the economic, demographic, civic, personal and moral imperative to educate all children to high standards and the consequences of not doing so. Hornbeck and Conner set forth a comprehensive, radical agenda based on proven practices and practical experience that will result in education success for virtually all children where faithfully implemented. This book breaks new ground. It establishes that the missing ingredient in school reform is the absence of values-driven, focused, well-financed, professionally staffed, technologically sophisticated grassroots expression of the public will insisting that the political, media, business, judicial and organized labor institutions that make the choices that result in our children's learning conditions make different, and effective choices. We get the education for our own children and grandchildren and those of others that we tolerate or demand.

Book Synopsis Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations by : Linda E. Swayne
Download or read book Strategic Management of Health Care Organizations written by Linda E. Swayne and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-07-17 with total page 881 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 6th edition of this established text is streamlined to a more manageable format, with the Appendices moved to the web-site and a significant shortening of the main text. There is a greater focus on the global analysis of industry and competition; and analysis of the internal environment. In consultation with feedback from their adopters, the authors have concentrated on the fundamentals of strategy analysis and the underlying sources of profit. This reflects waning interest among senior executives in the pursuit of short-term shareholder value. As ever students are provided with the guidance they need to strategic planning, analysis of the health services environment (internal and external) and lessons on implementation; with additional discussionssion of organizational capability, deeper treatment of sustainability and corporate social responsibility and more coverageof the sources of organizational inertia and competency traps. This edition is rich in new examples from real-world health care organizations. Chapters are brought to life by the 'Introductory Incidents', 'Learning Objectives', 'Perspectives', 'Strategy Capsules', useful chapter summaries; and questions for class discussion. All cases and examples have been updated or replaced. In this edition the teaching materials and web supplements have been greatly enhanced, with power-point slides, to give lecturers a unique resource.
