Book excerpt: Published to coincide with Pope Francis's Year of Mercy and the Vatican's canonization of Mother Teresa, this new book of unpublished material by a humble yet remarkable woman of faith whose influence is felt as deeply today as it was when she was alive, offers Mother Teresa’s profound yet accessible wisdom on how we can show mercy and compassion in our day-to-day lives. For millions of people from all walks of life, Mother Teresa's canonization is providentially taking place during Pope Francis's Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. This is entirely fitting since she is seen both inside and outside of the Church as an icon of God's mercy to those in need. Compiled and edited by Brian Kolodiejckuk, M.C., the postulator of Mother Teresa’s cause for sainthood, A Call to Mercy presents deep yet accessible wisdom on how we can show compassion in our everyday lives. In her own words, Mother Teresa discusses such topics as: the need for us to visit the sick and the imprisoned the importance of honoring the dead and informing the ignorant the necessity to bear our burdens patiently and forgive willingly the purpose to feed the poor and pray for all the greatness of creating a “civilization of love” through personal service to others Featuring never before published testimonials by people close to Mother Teresa as well as prayers and suggestions for putting these ideas into practice, A Call to Mercy is not only a lovely keepsake, but a living testament to the teachings of a saint whose ideas are important, relevant and very necessary in the 21st century.

Book excerpt: A year of daily inspiration from the renowned spiritual leader, Mother Teresa. The provocative ideas and touching insights found in The Joy in Loving spring from incidents in Mother Teresa's own remarkable life. She speaks of men and women who have lived and died uncomplainingly, even in the midst of great poverty and deprivation; of wealthy businessmen whose indifference has been transformed into compassion and charity, and of her encounters with people and governments around the globe. Through all of this, Mother Teresa emphasizes the need for a disciplined, loving family life, for "in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world." Drawing on more than seventy years of selfless service to the poorest of the poor, she discusses the importance of work and prayer, charity and service, the right to life and, above all, the need to love--unconditionally and absolutely.

Book excerpt: This tenth-anniversary edition of The Hole in Our Gospel features a new chapter and updated statistics, along with full-color photo and infographic inserts, a study guide, a concordance of scripture on poverty and justice, and personal accounts from readers whose perspectives have been changed by The Hole in Our Gospel. Is our faith only about going to church, studying the Bible, and avoiding the most serious sins? Or does God expect more? Have we embraced the whole gospel or a gospel with a hole in it? More than twenty years ago, Rich Stearns came face-to-face with that question as he sat in a mud hut in Rakai, Uganda, listening to the heartbreaking story of an orphaned child. Stearns’s journey took much more than a long flight to Africa. It took answering God’s call on his life, a call that tore him out of his corner office at one of America’s most prestigious corporations, to walk with the poorest of the poor in our world. Stearns’s compelling story demonstrates that the whole gospel was always meant to be a world-changing social revolution, a revolution that begins with each one of us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The shift in moral standards across the world has changed dramatically in the last eighty years. The shift has not been good for society, and the influence of Satan has grown. Once a God-fearing and loving society, we are now a God-ignoring and self-satisfying nation. The Ten Commandments, once considered vital, are now treated as less than ten suggestions. We have moved so far away from a God-centered world that I suspect He will do something dramatic to regain our attention. We have probably passed the point of no return in our relationship with our Creator. Mary and many Saints have warned that we need to return to Him, and I believe that only some divine intervention will bring us home to Him. My children and grandchildren didn't have the religious education we had. Most of them can't answer the question, "Why did God make you?" So I am asking you who had a solid religious education and belief to share that education with the young people. I have taken on the job of praying my children and grandchildren into heaven. If you agree, please join me. Ask the Father in Jesus's name to bring us home for eternity. Live and share the reason God made you. Tell the children what you learned; to know Him, to love Him, and serve Him. This is the purpose of our existence. Share it with the ones we love deeply. We live in His world. No matter what man tries to do, He is still, and always will be, in charge. In my judgment, the only power strong enough to coordinate all the confusion we've seen in the world today is Satanic power. Satan is constantly on the attack, but we have the power on our side to overcome his influence. In the end, Jesus will triumph coming in glory. His love and mercy is endless and will be shared by those who make an effort to do the will of the Father. The sisters taught us about the sacraments. Talk to your children and grandchildren about them. Encourage them to go to confession and to attend mass, and God will take care of them. Don't be afraid. He put us here and now for a reason, and I believe the reason is for us to help each other to know, love, and serve Him. Let's pray them into heaven with us. It has been two years getting this book to print. The changes in the world condition over that time has deteriorated significantly. Knowing the reason of our existence has become even more crucial than it was two years ago. The Russians have invaded Ukraine, and their action threatens world safety. Mary warned us of this threat over one hundred years ago. We are past time in listening to her words of warning. This week in March 2022, the Ukrainian bishops are pleading with the Pope to consecrate Russia to Mary. While we wait to see how the world situation unfolds, we might renew our own consecration to Mary and to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The world is praying for peace. I believe it is time to do more than to ask God for favors. It is time, past time, to add actions to our prayers taking Tom's example by the practice of fasting and other forms of self-sacrifice. I need to stop asking and to start doing. He doesn't need my sacrifice, but He loves my surrender. I witnessed a beautiful sign on the first Friday of March. The morning mass usually has thirty-five or so attendees. On this last first Friday, there were over 120. People are responding to Mary's call. If you haven't joined her yet, please do for your benefit, your children's benefit, and for the salvation of the world. Thank you again.

Book excerpt: Take a look into the world of The Amazing Writer and His Five Pencils, a place where pencils express their personalities as they interact with the Amazing Writer. This story is a parable for children that teaches Hebrews 12:2 "Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith." It has unique illustrations of the pencils done in caricatures that children can identify with. The story begins with a glimpse of all the wonderful characteristics of the Amazing Writer (GOD). It continues with how he sets out to purchase five special, expensive pencils (PEOPLE). Then the story focuses on the differing attitudes of each pencil toward using the sharpener (HOLY SPIRIT) and the eraser (JESUS). Discover why the Amazing Writer cannot write anything at first with either the STUBBORN, the WHINER,the SHY, or the PROUD pencils. See how the COOPERATIVE pencil faithfully sharpens, erases, and allows the Amazing Writer to use him in ways that he never thought possible. Watch as the other pencils begin to change each time they let the Amazing Writer use them. In the end, find out what becomes of each pencil and why. A question-and-answer page with Bible references is included. This will help parents explain and apply the parable to their child's daily life as they discuss the question, "Which pencil are you?"
