For Christian parents, there is no greater joy than seeing their children learn to walk with the Lord. And there is no greater fear than that their children will walk away from God. After serving together in pastoral ministry and raising their now-grown children, Phil and Diane Comer know those hopes and fears well. Like all new parents, they were intimidated and unsure about how to take on the task of spiritually training their young children. But now, with all four of their children grown and establishing their own households of faith, Phil and Diane have embarked on a quest to help the next generation of parents raise passionate Jesus followers. Drawing on years of pastoral counseling, teaching, leading, and decades of watching families from the perspective of pastors and leaders in ministry, Phil and Diane instruct, guide, encourage, and offer hope and practical help to Christian parents. Raising Passionate Jesus Followers is a manual full of practical, biblically based, and time-tested guidelines that parents will be able to turn to again and again through every stage of their children's development, including . . . Book excerpt: Transmitting your passions to your children, motivating them with shared goals, and getting them excited about values are the most important things you can do as a parent. With great humor and insight, Shmuley Boteach, bestselling author and former host of TLC's Shalom in the Home, lays out his guiding principles for taking your child to the mountaintop, and creating a parent-child bond based on vitality, exuberance, and mutual respect. Everywhere you go these days, you see unruly, unhappy kids, or lifeless, listless teenaged zombies. Admit it: even your own kids can be hard to reach. They prefer friends to family, video games to books, and headphones to conversations. But you’ve given them everything—what could be missing? According to Boteach, the missing ingredient is inspiration: giving your child the example, incentive, and tools to make something of themselves, to live life at the wave’s crest.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Latin adage says, “Dat quod non habet,” meaning “No one gives what he does not have.” This wise saying makes sense in the business of parenting. We are in an age where children are begetting children due to lack of knowledge, which contributes to rampant teenage pregnancy. It gets complicated when a teenager who should still needs parental care becomes a parent. This book examines some of the fundamental precautions that should be taken from the moment of conception, such as the effects of toxins or teratogens that could affect the health of the baby in the womb. Every parent who has the good of their baby in the womb in mind should know about these toxins and avoid putting them into their body. The fundamentals to parenting with resilience and grace lies in the sacred nature of the human body as presented in this book. Any form of physical and emotional abuse or addiction to alcohol and substances of abuse that can pose danger to the unborn baby or a child should be avoided. The need for the parents to form a secure attachment with the baby cannot be underestimated, as insecure attachment could result to lifelong emotional and psychological imbalance in the child if not properly addressed. This book also seeks to emphasize that no two persons are ever the same, not even identical twins. Therefore, the former idea in parenting that tends to say that one size fits all is untenable when it comes to raising a child who can live true to his or her nature. I have, in this book, explored the various traits and energy movements that could inform the personality of your child and offer best practice tips to raise each child to be happy and successful. Many behavioral warning signs that could show when the child is not properly being raised or abused are discussed. Finally, some measures that could be taken to arrest the effects of poor parenting and healing of a traumatized inner child are equally presented. It is my sincere hope that many will find this book a good guide and reference book in raising their children.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “What if we raise our children to gain the world but in the process they forfeit their souls?” ask the writers of Parenting with Kingdom Purpose (True Love Waits founder Richard Ross and best-selling author Ken Hemphill). Indeed, children are a constant reminder of God’s goodness. In that light, Christian parents are called to celebrate and nurture the unique personality traits and talents of each precious one with a gracious and eternal perspective. Yet studies indicate 70 percent of teenagers from evangelical homes will drop out of church within two years after high school graduation. What the world has to offer will win their closer attention. Parenting with Kingdom Purpose looks at Bible teaching and the recent National Study of Youth and Religion to shape a fresh approach to raising children that cuts through the chaos of modern life and brings families closest to each other and the Lord.
