Book excerpt: How could the early church, with only a handful of men and women, under heavy persecution, without the means of mass communication or distribution of their message, have such influence in the world they lived in that was said of them that they turned it upside down! It went from being an enemy of the Roman empire, to the official religion of the same, with the Emperor Himself coming to the faith. As we look at the church today, with all of its technological advancements and boasting a membership of over 2 billion people, we find its influence waning and relevance being questioned. How is the possible? The answer is found in its "paradigm." The early church lived and operated from a paradigm established by God for those in covenant with Him, that contained not only their assignment and purpose, but the power to overcome and transform the world. The church's current paradigm (Salvation Paradigm) was intended to be used "by" the church to bring men to Christ, but was never intended to be the paradigm "of" the church, which is comprised of those already in Christ. We must recover this original paradigm, the Kingdom Paradigm, in order for the church to regain her place and fulfill her purpose in the world to which she is assigned. God has sent a shift, a paradigm shift, within His church to restore the power inherent within the Kingdom Paradigm to cause His Kingdom to come, and His will to be done, on earth as it is in heaven!

Book excerpt: This book explores recent developments in South African Pentecostalism, focusing on new prophetic churches. The chapters engage with a number of paradigm shifts in Christology, identified as complementing Christ, competing with Christ, removing Christ and replacing Christ. What are the implications of these shifts? Does it mean that believers no longer believe in Christ but in their leaders? Does it shift believers’ faith towards materiality than the person of Christ? This volume will be valuable for scholars of African Christianity and in particular those interested in the neo-prophetic movement and Christology in a South African context.

Book excerpt: Church growth models have often been long on promises and short on disciple-making. We continue to watch consistent church attendance shrink, and our desire to reach the lost is infected with a need for self-validation by growing our numbers at any cost. If we believe that God wants his church to grow, where do we go from here? What is the future of the church? Drawing from his 20 years and 15,000 hours of consulting, author Will Mancini shares with pastors and ministry leaders the single most important insight he has learned about church growth. With plenty of salient stories and based solidly on the disciple-making methods found in Scripture, Future Church exposes the church's greatest challenge today, and offers 7 transforming laws of real church growth so that we can faithfully and joyfully fulfill Jesus's Great Commission.

Book excerpt: Evangelicals, Simon Chan argues, are confused about the meaning and purpose of the church in part because they have an inadequate understanding of Christian worship. He calls evangelicals to develop a theology of worship that is grounded in a theology of the church. He guides the reader through worship practices and their significance for theology, spirituality and the renewal of evangelicalism in the postmodern era.

Book excerpt: "David Bosch's Transforming Mission, now available in over a dozen languages, is widely recognized as an historic and magisterial contribution to the study of mission. Examining the entire sweep of Christian tradition, he shows how five paradigms have historically encapsulated the Christian understanding of mission and then outlines the characteristics of an emerging postmodern paradigm dialectically linking the transcendent and imminent dimensions of salvation. In this new anniversary edition, Darrel Guder and Martin Reppenhagen explore the impact of Bosch s work and the unfolding application of his seminal vision." --

Book excerpt: Spent Matches explores the possibility that a few small paradigm shifts within the church might make the difference between extinction and effectiveness. In fact, taking a clue from the automobile industry, the church might be able to not only halt the rapid decay in attendance but also become an effective tool in achieving Jesus' final command. For instance, the Hybrid car has become the answer to Detroit's environmental and oil crisis issues. Finding the synergy between two technologies, gas and electric has created a new day for the auto industry. Likewise, Spent Matchesexplores how the church can find synergy between two seemingly competing thoughts: an invitation to come and a command to go. The Hybrid metaphor brings energy to the church's mission and an explanation to the age-old argument of Missional versus Attractional methods. Features include: Innovative ideas for growing the church Methods to reach those who may never have attended church Scripture passages that touch on the subject of church growth

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since colonial days, religious work in American has happened through denominations. At least since the start of the twentieth century, these religious bodies consisted of a fairly tight, intra-denominationally connected system of congregations, regional judicatories, and national offices. This system was the product of more than two centuries of consolidation among Americanbs historic immigrant and indigenous churches. The vast majority of these structures are still in place, retain some semblance of internal coherence, have considerable social and religious significance, and will be with us for the foreseeable future. Nevertheless, the stresses upon them today clearly indicate that they are entering an unsettled period of transition. The purpose of this book is to examine the national structures of eight diverse Protestant denominations as a part of that shift. The frame of this study is the relationship between the theological and organizational nature of national denominational structures as they adapt to the changing situation of the twenty-first century.

This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is of strategic importance for international students and scholars to come under the umbrella of global missions. The author is convinced there is need for a paradigm shift in global missions. With over one million international students from practically every country on the face of the earth, many being Christian, having come to the U.S. for their higher education, we cannot afford to waste this golden opportunity. Reasons will be provided why this is our divine “moment” in history for Christian leadership to rise up and take action. The potential is there for us to create a tremendous impact for Christ on nations which in the past have been difficult to reach. God works in mysterious ways and this has to be one of them. It is imperative that we get with God’s program and focus on: • identifying Christian international students soon after their arrival on campus. • training them Biblically and theologically. • equipping them for their return home. • following them up after their return with support. Documentation is provided, some from missionaries themselves, showing that properly trained Christian international students after returning home are much more effective than traditional foreign missionaries. Reasons why are clearly and with great conviction provided. However, we still need traditional foreign missionaries because of the fields being white unto harvest but the laborers are few. The reader will be fascinated by the illustrations of those Christian international students who returned home to accomplish feats for God on a scale that never before had been thought possible.
