Book excerpt: The book provides process engineers, an insight into refractories focusing on its importance and requirements in chemical process industries such as refinery and petrochemicals, syngas manufacturing, coal gasification, limestone calcinations, carbon black, glass, and cement production. Additionally the book discusses the refractory requirements for the CFBC boiler, and waste heat utilization process to generate steam. The book describes characterization of refractory material and selection process of the refractory for lining different equipments pertaining to the chemical process industry. The book covers refractory installation techniques, and the precautions to be taken during installation are discussed in detail along with the theoretical background. It explains the physical and chemical factors that influence the performances of refractory, mechanism of its degradation in service and emphasizes on the thermo-chemical and thermo-mechanical aspects and their role in that process . The content lays out different methods of monitoring Refractory lining conditions while the furnace is in operation and also elucidates few methods to repair the worn out lining without taking a shutdown. The scheme of investigation of a refractory failure is an added feature.

This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arising from an examination in 1969 of the education and trammg opportumtles for paint industry technicians, it was recognized that the various courses available at that time did not fully serve their needs. While a few large companies had developed in-house training arrangements, the many medium and smaller fi.rms in the raw material supply, paint manufacturing or paint user industries, were unable to provide their own comprehensive training programs. With a view to improving this situation, an advisory committee comprising ofrepresentatives of the Australian Paint Manufacturers' Federation and the Oil and Colour Chemists' Association Australia was established to liaise directly with the New South Wales Department of Technical and Further Education. As a result plans were developed for the introduction of a Special Course in 'Surface Coatings Technology' in 1971, conducted by the Sydney Technical College. The scope of the course was designed to cover all aspects of surface coatings technology ranging from raw materials and formulations to the production, testing, evaluation, application and use of finished products. The course proved to be highly successful and in 1973 a similar syllabus was introduced by the Melboume School of Painting, Decorating and Signcrafts in Victoria. In 1980, New Zealand followed suit with a similar course conducted by the Auckland Technical Institute.

Download or read book Corrosion Guide written by E. Rabald and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 937 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrosion Guide presents a list of corrosive agents and the trade names of materials, including metallic and non-metallic materials as well as alloys. The book provides guidance in using the tabulated information. This reference also lists relevant publications that deal with the properties of various materials. This new edition provides more data that are not included in the previous edition. The former edition fails to present enough information as the provided properties of the corrosive agents varies and other data are not available. The release aims to minimize missing information about the subject matter. This compilation of tabulated data provides description of each group of corrosive agents. Elements and compounds under each group are listed, along with their properties such as room temperature, corrosion rate, and composition. The list of trade names of materials also describes the composition of each material. The information contained in this book is intended to help practicing engineers deal with corrosion.

Book Synopsis ASM Specialty Handbook by : Joseph R. Davis
Download or read book ASM Specialty Handbook written by Joseph R. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 501 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you are involved with machining or metalworking or you specify materials for industrial components, this book is an absolute must. It gives you detailed and comprehensive information about the selection, processing, and properties of materials for machining and metalworking applications. They include wrought and powder metallurgy tool steels, cobalt base alloys, cemented carbides, cermets, ceramics, and ultra-hard materials. You'll find specific guidelines for optimizing machining productivity through the proper selection of cutting tool materials plus expanded coverage on the use of coatings to extend cutting tool and die life. There is also valuable information on alternative heat treatments for improving the toughness of tool and die steels. All new material on the correlation of heat treatment microstructures and properties of tool steels is supplemented with dozens of photomicrographs. Information on special tooling considerations for demanding applications such as isothermal forging, die casting of metal matrix composites, and molding of corrosive plastics is also included. And you'll learn about alternatives to ferrous materials for metalworking applications such as carbides, cermets, ceramics, and nonferrous metals like aluminum, nickel, and copper base alloys.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of additive manufacturing has seen explosive growth in recent years due largely in part to renewed interest from the manufacturing sector. Conceptually, additive manufacturing, or industrial 3D printing, is a way to build parts without using any part-specific tooling or dies from the computer-aided design (CAD) file of the part. Today, mo
