Book excerpt: Every year, an estimated 5,000 people are kidnapped for ransom in Mexico. Since few kidnappings are ever reported to police for fear of reprisals, the terrifying ordeal that survivors endure has remained a mystery—until now. On September 22, 2002, Mexican writer Ernestina Sodi and her sister, actress Laura Zapata, were kidnapped at gunpoint in Mexico City. Both victims are members of the prominent Sodi family; their younger sister is Thalia, an international pop sensation, and the wife of billionaire music mogul Tommy Mottola. Tragically, it was Mottola's glaring fortune which caught the attention of the abductors, making the sisters' kidnapping the most widely publicized in recent memory.

Book Synopsis The Laws of Nature for a Better Relationship by : Christopher Walker
Download or read book The Laws of Nature for a Better Relationship written by Christopher Walker and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2009-02-12 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's totally refreshing to find a book written by a bloke for blokes about blokes in love. This book is well overdue and women all over the world should be celebrating. At last a bloke talking about "evolve-ya-bastard" to men. What is great is the question and answer format. So, it's relevant and contextual. I mean he's taken questions from people and answered them in as short a space of page as could be imagined. I don't think he could have said less, but in this case, less is more. The chapter about "understanding others" is awesome too. Who would have thought that thousands of years ago people knew so much about the human constitution and how "different folks need different strokes" just from that alone, we can understand the dynamics between ourselves and others better and therefore, respect them more. The last chapter blew us away. Those two circles and the idea of being individual for more than 60% of our life yet, merging for 30% is sensational. It just makes being in love so much more fun. Partners all over the world will really laugh at this when they see how simple it can be. This is really life changing. As for the laws of nature: what genius. It is said that the most powerful teacher can make the most complex, simple. Brilliant understanding of the whole entire universe in five short laws, it's really unimaginable that it can be so ordered and perfect. So is this book. Also available from Trafford Publishing: Personal Harmony The Laws of Nature for a Better Business The Laws of Nature for a Better Life The Laws of Nature for a Better Self
Download or read book Uncharted written by Colette Baron-Reid and published by Hay House. This book was released on 2016 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In Uncharted, internationally acclaimed intuitive counselor and "spiritual cartographer" Colette Baron Reid, whose best-selling books include The Map and Messages from Spirit, shows us that in the new normal of uncertainty, we can overcome the challenge of feeling disoriented, scared, and helpless and chart a path to new possibilities. It's in the places unfamiliar to us--the uncharted places--where magic lies. Here we can claim our innate power to give birth to an extraordinary life and become who we are called to become. Colette explains, "When we're lost, we all want a map--but maps can only tell us where we've been." All of us, personally and collectively, are headed somewhere new, to a future that has not yet been imagined, and we're creating it as we go. With her trademark compassionate candor and reassuring humor, as well as input from a wise, loving consciousness who call themselves "Fred," Colette guides us on a journey of co-creation through five interconnected realms--the Realms of Spirit, Mind, Light, and Energy, Form. Whatever we wish to experience and manifest, if we start in the realm of Form, trying to fix our lives and think our way out of our problems, we end up living inauthentically and feeling disappointed. But if we orient ourselves in the Realm of Spirit first, a magical process of transformation begins within, from which we can manifest a new reality far better than we might ever have imagined. Following this path, we get to experience what we came to create in the Realm of Form, and watch as our fear gives way to a deep sense of purpose and enthusiasm for participating in the co-creative process. Throughout Uncharted are fresh and exciting exercises drawn from Colette's trademarked energy psychology process, IN-Vizion

Book Synopsis Cold War on the Airwaves by : Nicholas J Schlosser
Download or read book Cold War on the Airwaves written by Nicholas J Schlosser and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 2015-11-15 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Founded as a counterweight to the Communist broadcasters in East Germany, Radio in the American Sector (RIAS) became one of the most successful public information operations conducted against the Soviet Bloc. Cold War on the Airwaves examines the Berlin-based organization's history and influence on the political worldview of the people--and government--on the other side of the Iron Curtain. Nicholas J. Schlosser draws on broadcast transcripts, internal memoranda, listener letters, and surveys by the U.S. Information Agency to profile RIAS. Its mission: to undermine the German Democratic Republic with propaganda that, ironically, gained in potency by obeying the rules of objective journalism. Throughout, Schlosser examines the friction inherent in such a contradictory project and propaganda's role in shaping political culture. He also portrays how RIAS's primarily German staff influenced its outlook and how the organization both competed against its rivals in the GDR and pushed communist officials to alter their methods in order to keep listeners. From the occupation of Berlin through the airlift to the construction of the Berlin Wall, Cold War on the Airwaves offers an absorbing view of how public diplomacy played out at a flashpoint of East-West tension.
