Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It was the early 1960s and our country was in the midst of the cold war with the Soviet Union. President Eisenhower had, earlier, decided to initiate development of a spy satellite system to obtain strategic intelligence data on the Soviets. A massive program was instituted to accomplish this goal and, as part of the overall program, the concept of an all-military facility to provide R&D support and duplicate imagery processing from these satellites, was ordered. This began the establishment of the AFSPPF, which operated for 15 years in that capacity. This story describes the mission of the AFSPPF and what it was like to work in an Ultra Top Secret operation, whose mission was not disclosed until now. No-one involved with our operation could talk about it to anyone, including family, friends or anyone else in the military, unless they were properly cleared and were amongst those who needed to know. All content herein was derived from the personal recollections of our remaining members and from what little official declassified documentation we could find. It is hoped the reader will enjoy learning what it was like to work in such a unique Top Secret unit of the U.S. Air Force. AFSPPF was an Air Force Headquarters unit created in 1961 to conduct the research and development (R&D) necessary to provide the best possible production equipment and techniques in support of special projects specified by the Secretary of the Air Force. There is no declassified documented record of the activity within the facility. The facility operated in a Top Secret, Black Opps mode throughout its entire 15-year lifetime. Aspects of the units mission evolved over time, however the mainstay was production, evaluation and distribution of classified imagery, from spy satellites and aircraft, to our nations intelligence community, in a timely manner. The production and evaluation directorates, within the facility, also assisted with the many R&D projects in support of the overall national reconnaissance program. It was an exciting time for all of us. We not only provided the best photographic intelligence possible to our nations leaders, but also had a lot of fun doing it. It was hard work and long hours, all with no individual recognition given. There was, however a degree of self-satisfaction involved. We knew and understood the objectives and often saw details of our advisories military capabilities that were never exposed to the public eye. The satellites and aircraft involved have now all been declassified and our mission can now be revealed, so all can see what really went on in such a Top Secret operation. This true story is not only about our mission, but about the unique, exciting and sometimes humorous experiences of the people who did the work.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Why are more churches not engaged in practical, substantial ways of taking the gospel to the nations?" When Missions Shape the Mission unpacks a statistical study of traditionally evangelical churches that reveals their anemic level of commitment to the biblical mandate of making Christ known around the world. Veteran pastor David Horner makes the data easy to understand, challenging other pastors to radically assign their best leadership and resources to missions as he looks at where the church is today, how it got there, and where we must go from here: "Let's dream a godly dream. What if you committed to step up and lead your church in the pursuit of becoming a mission-focused church? Then, what if you invited ten of your pastor friends to join you in the effort—and each of them did the same? What would happen to the available missions force beginning right here in the West?"

Book excerpt: Called "spellbinding" (Scientific American) and "thrilling...a future classic of popular science" (PW), the up close, inside story of the greatest space exploration project of our time, New Horizons’ mission to Pluto, as shared with David Grinspoon by mission leader Alan Stern and other key players. On July 14, 2015, something amazing happened. More than 3 billion miles from Earth, a small NASA spacecraft called New Horizons screamed past Pluto at more than 32,000 miles per hour, focusing its instruments on the long mysterious icy worlds of the Pluto system, and then, just as quickly, continued on its journey out into the beyond. Nothing like this has occurred in a generation—a raw exploration of new worlds unparalleled since NASA’s Voyager missions to Uranus and Neptune—and nothing quite like it is planned to happen ever again. The photos that New Horizons sent back to Earth graced the front pages of newspapers on all 7 continents, and NASA’s website for the mission received more than 2 billion hits in the days surrounding the flyby. At a time when so many think that our most historic achievements are in the past, the most distant planetary exploration ever attempted not only succeeded in 2015 but made history and captured the world’s imagination. How did this happen? Chasing New Horizons is the story of the men and women behind this amazing mission: of their decades-long commitment and persistence; of the political fights within and outside of NASA; of the sheer human ingenuity it took to design, build, and fly the mission; and of the plans for New Horizons’ next encounter, 1 billion miles past Pluto in 2019. Told from the insider’s perspective of mission leader Dr. Alan Stern and others on New Horizons, and including two stunning 16-page full-color inserts of images, Chasing New Horizons is a riveting account of scientific discovery, and of how much we humans can achieve when people focused on a dream work together toward their incredible goal.

Book excerpt: Together on God’s Mission investigates Southern Baptist history, showing how and why the Southern Baptist Convention came to embrace the vision of a cooperative denomination. It also explores how this vision has shaped denominational identity and structure. This historical study is followed by a discussion of the biblical description of how the mission of God determines the mission of the church. This study shows that God’s mission is not simply furthered by churches working together, but rather that cooperation between churches makes up a key component of God’s mission. Finally, the study concludes that the Southern Baptist Convention is uniquely positioned to enable churches to fully participate in God’s mission to redeem the nations and restore creation from the effects of the Fall.

Book excerpt: It was a day to remember, a day to forget; a day when life struggled to breathe through deaths chokehold and survived; a day when death was diminished in the knowledge that it was he who was transient, and life that is eternal. It was a day to mourn, a day to rejoice. It was the night when the sky shone brighter than day, and succeeding days brighter than thirty million years ago when God created earth and flooded it with light. It was as if a searchlight on Mount Everest had spread light through the shadows of the universe so women, men, and children could walk into the gloomiest nook and cavern and not be afraid. Seven years have passed since that night of August 29. As I sat on the chair by the window of our flat in the Daria Ganj section of New Delhi looking out at the mosque hazily outlined in the distance, Milli stood behind me, her hand resting gently on my shoulder. The view of the mosque from our living room window kept alive the recollection of that day, distinct as the creases on my palms. Neither time nor distance had erased a word, a sound, a prayer, or a moan. What Gandharva raja has written is an outline of the history, the social psychology, and the anthropology of religions. It is simply brilliant. Donald B. Gibson, Professor Emeritus, Department of English, Rutgers University

Book excerpt: Generational and family curses and bondage are real distressful experiences that plague and cause us suffering; they complicate and make personal and family life hard and unnecessarily burdensome. Healing You and Your Family Tree is written to address and counter this assault on families by evil forces, and their often hidden and unsuspecting agents. It outlines twelve comprehensive open doors to bondage and, gives insights on how to recognize the operations of demonic powers behind them, and the loopholes, mechanisms and tactics that lead to bondage. This well researched and detailed book is a useful guide to discern family curses that may be causing spiritual distress, the steps necessary to close the doors to evil, and how the power of prayer and intercession in the Spirit opens doors to grace and freedom through faith in the Holy Name of Jesus. Prayer is the antidote to evil, and the master key to healing. Prayer is the life of the soul as water is the life of fish. To pray well is to dwell and move in God. Saint Alphonsus Liguori said those who pray will be saved; those who do not pray will not be saved. The contemplative approach to healing has a special place for the prayer initiative as the gateway to freedom. God indeed governs the world, but prayer governs God. The prayer of faith that saves and heals rests on four solid pillars of prayer, penance, silence and solitude. We learn to pray by praying; when we do, we move mountains and overturn worldly kingdoms, GodaEUR(tm)s reign takes root in our hearts to make all things new in the love of the risen Christ. Christians born again and inserted into Christ by the Spirit in Baptism, united and strengthened in Him through Confirmation and the Sacraments, are prepared for victory in spiritual combat. This book equips readers with the knowledge and tools needed to succeed in battles against evils. It prepares believers to gain vital knowledge of self and God, and outlines principles for daily victories in spiritual warfare with the strength of self-knowledge grounded in the truth of GodaEUR(tm)s unconditional love for us, and the armor of light we need to stand firm in faith and to resist and overcome evil. Our senses, thoughts, feelings, and desires help us to navigate the challenging road of suffering due to generational curses. This book helps us to engage our reason and faculties and gifts to cooperate with GodaEUR(tm)s grace to receive healing. We are assured that the ultimate solution to generational suffering lies in the committed and intense relationship with Jesus Christ in a life of charity rooted in truth, humility, moral purity and personal holiness, for the one purpose of acquiring purity of heart, by which we see God. It emphasizes the supreme power and effectiveness of ChristaEUR(tm)s perpetual priestly sacrifice in setting all captives free, and alerts readers to the unseen but game-changing Spirit-inspired intercession of the contemplative approach to healing. Contemplation intensifies GodaEUR(tm)s fire-power in us through the Holy Spirit, we share in Divine intimacy, and are enabled to fight the good fight against the crosses of bondage with a sure and humble resignation to GodaEUR(tm)s Divine and always Victorious will.

Book excerpt: The subject of destiny has attracted various explanations from diverse schools of thought. While some believe in and espouse the philosophy of predestination, others hold that man is the architect of his own destinyand still others fail to believe in the concept at all. Even among those who believe in the concept of destiny, there is lack of consensus about its definition and its workings given the critical nature of the subject of destiny. There is a need for man to clearly understand and employ the knowledge in his journey from mortality to immortality. In Have You Discovered Your Assignment with Destiny? author Anthony Ugochukwu O. Aliche thoroughly examines the concept of destiny and seeks to guide others to an understanding of how this important aspect of our existence functions. The journey begins with Aliches lamentation of mans inability to acknowledge and define his destiny with particular reference to his assignment with himself, his obligation with his environment, and his assignment with the Creator and the entire cosmos. He believes that life lived without discovering ones assignment with destiny is life lived without putting God firstand consequently a life tragically wasted. He opens our eyes to the fact that so many lives could make a quantum leap if only they could turn to God and nature for the discovery and manifestation of their destiny. The world would be a better place if we all discovered that we have a role to play individually and collectively, and that we can only achieve if we strive to discover our assignment with destiny.

It carefully examines the conflict’s origins in the Russian Revolution of 1917, and follows the thread of antagonism between west and east all the way up to 1960. These were the key years of the Cold War, when it seemed that the prospect of nuclear confrontation was a real one, and this book offers a close reading of the main events of those years. This volume concentrates on the European theatre, and Volume Two focuses on the Cold War in the East.

Yet, in truth, and by definition, few of us really are. Many of us are genuine about conforming to the Lords character, at least in part, and thats a worthy pursuit. However, for various reasons as explained in this book, very few of us today are personally carrying on with the Lords own miraculous works and ways, as directed. In truth, our own prayers, personal ministries, and methods seldom resemble the timeless prayers, ministry, and methods of Jesus, nor do our results resemble His miraculous results. This powerful book is passionately committed to helping and encouraging every believer to follow Jesus in the miraculous ways of a mountain mover, while explaining just how to do it. So much more than another great book on prayer and discipleship, the Miraculous Mountain Mover is an invitation into the powerful life of active faith that is intended for every believer and follower of Jesus. As Christians, we are the Body of ChristHis hands and feet, His mouthpieceand were called to do His work on the earth in our day. Pastor Chuck has a first-hand experience of this, and it is his contagious passion to help others to do the same. Be forewarned, this book is not for the faint of heart. As you read this book, you will be very encouraged. However, you will also be challenged to step out of the shadows of fear and doubt and into the adventurous life of faith that awaits! Enjoy!!
