Book excerpt: “Ancient Landmarks” is a message that I have been carrying in my heart for some time, which I now share with you through this book. This is probably the kind of message that I would preach as one of my final messages, when passing on the baton to the next generation that would continue the race from where I leave. The world is changing. What worked yesterday, may not work today! We need to adapt to the new world. We need to present eternal truths using symbols and language that are part of the culture of the new world. And yet there are dangers in doing so, that we must be aware of. We cannot take things randomly from culture and use them to communicate timeless truths. We cannot compromise on ancient landmarks in our effort to use, engage, and employ the culture of the new world. There are some winds that are blowing, which we need to adjust and adapt our sails to and go where the wind is blowing, lest we get left behind and become disconnected from the present new world. And then, there are some winds of change that are blowing in a direction that would make us cross sacred boundaries and lose godly traditions. We must learn to navigate through these winds of change, using the ancient landmarks to anchor us through the storms. STAY WITH THE BIBLE. The Bible IS our Ancient Landmark! Book excerpt: Beginning nearly 4,000 years ago with Abraham and running through all the patriarches into the kings and on to the prophets, is a singular word with profound ramifications. Hesed or checed. On his way to Wyoming to to try to start his life over again, the author heard a song by Steven Curtis Chapman. From Steven's liner notes he discovered this word in Ps. 143 and then and there God began his startover. This word about covenant/ steadfast Love, especially when God links it with the Hebrew word for Truth, is wonderfully fulfilled in Jesus Christ. So now as time went on he began to see a very plain pathway through what was up ahead for America: a great repentance/revival or judgement and a very great destruction. This book is prickly and a bit rowdy, but it rings very true.

Book Synopsis Solomon Day by Day by : C. Richard Wells
Download or read book Solomon Day by Day written by C. Richard Wells and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world is drowning in words. Some four million are books published every year, plus e-books, audiobooks, and magazines, not to mention television, movies, and videos; blogs, podcasts, and social media; and an estimated six to ten thousand ads forced on every American every day! But where—amidst this bewildering cacophony of words—shall wisdom be found? (Job 28:12). That long-ago question from Job is more relevant today than ever. And so is his long-ago answer: Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom (Job 28:28; cf. Prov 1:7; 9:10; Ps 111:10). That’s biblical bedrock for building a life—a God-centered life. A life of significance and satisfaction, humility and hope, confidence and joy. The book of Proverbs gives you the tools, and the book you hold in your hands will help you use the tools. Solomon Day by Day won’t change your life, but it will change the way you look at the proverbs. And the proverbs will change your life!

Book Synopsis Encyclopedia Of Freemasonry And Its Kindred Sciences, Volume 2: D-L by : Albert G. Mackey
Download or read book Encyclopedia Of Freemasonry And Its Kindred Sciences, Volume 2: D-L written by Albert G. Mackey and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Albert G. Mackey appears as author of this " Encyclopedia of Freemasonry and its Kindred Sciences," which, being a library in inself, superseded most of the Masonic works which have been tolerated by the craft — chiefly because none better could be obtained. Here is a work which fulfils the hope which sustained the author through ten years' literary labor, that, under one cover he "would furnish every Mason who might consult its pages the means of acquiring a knowledge of all matters connected with the science, the philosophy, and the history of his order." Up to the present time the modern literature of Freemasonry has been diffuse, lumbering, unreliable, and, out of all reasonable proportions. There is, in Mackey's "Encyclopaedia of Masonry," well digested, well arranged, and confined within reasonable limits, all that a Mason can desire to find in a book exclusively devoted to the history, the arts, science, and literature of Masonry. This is volume two out of four and covering the letters D to L.
