Download or read book X-Ray Lasers 1992, Proceedings of the 3rd INT Colloquium on X-ray Lasers, Schliersee, Germany, May 18-22, 1992 written by Ernst Fill and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-11-01 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: X-Ray Lasers 1992 contains a total of 92 papers from many of the world's leading researchers in the rapidly developing field of x-ray lasers. The book accurately reflects trends in x-ray laser research, particularly in pump mechanisms other than collisional pumping. It also focuses on the realization of new ideas for generating inversions at x-ray transitions.

This book was released on 1993-01-08 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of operator algebras is generally considered over the field of complex numbers and in the complex Hilbert spaces. So it is a natural and interesting problem: How is the theory in the field of real numbers? Up to now, the theory of operator algebras over the field of real numbers has seemed not to be introduced systematically and sufficiently. The aim of this book is to set up the fundamentals of real operator algebras and to give a systematic discussion for real operator algebras. Since the treatment is from the beginning (real Banach and Hilbert spaces, real Banach algebras, real Banach ā algebras, real Cā-algebras and Wā-algebras, etc.), and some basic facts are given, one can get some results on real operator algebras easily. The book is also an introduction to real operator algebras, written in a self-contained manner. The reader needs just a general knowledge of Banach algebras and operator algebras.
Book Synopsis Atoms in Strong Fields by : C.A. Nicolaides
Download or read book Atoms in Strong Fields written by C.A. Nicolaides and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collects the lectures given at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on "Atoms in Strong Fields", which took place on the island of Kos, Greece, during the two weeks of October 9-21,1988. The designation "strong field" applies here to an external electromagnetic field that is sufficiently strong to cause highly nonlinear alterations in atomic or molecular struc ture and dynamics. The specific topics treated in this volume fall into two general cater gories, which are those for which strong field effects can be studied in detail in terrestrial laboratories: the dynamics of excited states in static or quasi-static electric and magnetic fields; and the interaction of atoms and molecules with intense laser radiation. In both areas there exist promising opportunities for research of a fundamental nature. An electric field of even a few volts per centimeter can be very strong on the atom ic scale, if it acts upon a weakly bound state. The study of Rydberg states with high reso lution laser spectroscopic techniques has made it possible to follow the transition from weak-field to strong-field behavior in remarkable detail, using static fields of modest lab oratory strength; in the course of this transition the atomic system evolves from one which can be thoroughly understood in terms of field-free quantum numbers, to one which cannot be meaningfully associated at all with the zero-field states of the atom.

This book was released on 2020-10-08 with total page 684 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first ICXOM congress held in Cambridge was the brain-child of Dr. Ellis Cosslett, founder of the Electron Optics Section of the Cavendish Laboratory. Dr. Cosslett pioneered research in x-ray optics and microanalysis and retained a close interest in all subject applications for this area of research, including physics, materials science, chemistry, and biology. X-Ray Optics and Microanalysis 1992 was held in his memory. At a special symposium, friends and colleagues reviewed the present status of research in x-ray optics and microanalysis. S.J. Pennycook of Oak Ridge National Laboratory, D.B. Williams of Lehigh University, J.A. Venables et al. of Arizona State University and Sussex University, and C. Jacobsen et al. of SUNY, Stony Brook are among the researchers whose papers are included in this volume.
