Book Synopsis Tin in Organic Synthesis by : Michel Pereyre
Download or read book Tin in Organic Synthesis written by Michel Pereyre and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tin in Organic Synthesis is a systematic presentation of the organic chemistry of tin. This book discusses the significant advances that have been made with regard to the applications of organotin compounds as reagents or intermediates in organic synthesis and points out directions for future developments. This monograph is comprised of 17 chapters divided into four sections. Following a brief introduction to organotin chemistry, the production of the organotin reagents, which are most usually employed in organic synthesis, is described. Special emphasis is placed on the creation of a fresh tin-carbon bond, a preliminary step in numerous fruitful applications. The following chapters are devoted to synthetic applications involving tin-hydrogen, tin-carbon, and tin-heteroatom bonds. The reduction of organic halides, carbonyl compounds, thio, nitrogen compounds, unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds, and seleno and telluro compounds is considered. The discussion then turns to electrophilic cleavages of tin-carbon bonds, which are of possible interest in organic synthesis, along with transmetallation and metallation of organotin compounds. The creation of new carbon-carbon bonds through substitution, addition, or elimination reactions is also examined. The remaining chapters focus on organotin alkoxides, organotin enolates, organotin oxides and peroxides, and organotin esters. This book will be of interest to students and researchers in the field of organic chemistry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In common with the editor of the first edition, my own personal involvement with tin chemistry began when I had the privilege of studying for a PhD degree under the supervision of Professor Alwyn G. Davies FRS at University College London (UCL) almost exactly 30 years ago. Then, following 21 years' service with the International Tin Research Institute, it was a great pleasure for me when the wheel turned full circle and, in 1994, Alwyn - now an Emeritus Professor - asked me to return to UCL as an Honorary Research Fellow in the Chemistry Department. One of my first tasks was when I received an invitation from Blackie A&P to edit the second edition of the Chemistry of Tin, which I was delighted to accept, since it enabled me to continued my life-long interest in tin chemistry and to maintain contact with my former friends and colleagues, many of whom have contributed to this book.

Book excerpt: Tin chemistry retains a place in contemporary science as an important element owing to its wide range of applications. New and exciting research is being generated on an annual basis from all parts of the world – the study of tin and its compounds attracts considerable interest from a range of perspectives such as organic synthesis, medicine, materials chemistry, catalysis and environment. Tin Chemistry – Fundamentals, Frontiers and Applications collects, in one comprehensive volume, authoritative and concise snapshots of modern tin chemistry in a full range of applications. Over forty of the leading tin chemistry experts have contributed reviews in six themes: fundamentals in tin chemistry materials chemistry and structural chemistry of tin compounds medicinal and biocidal applications of tin compounds tin in the environment tin in organic synthesis tin in catalysis Tin Chemistry – Fundamentals, Frontiers and Applications is an essential overview of modern perspectives on this important element for the specialist and non-specialist alike. It will promote cross-disciplinary interactions and at the same time be an essential teaching resource for advanced university classes.
Book Synopsis Sn Organotin Compounds by : Herbert Schumann
Download or read book Sn Organotin Compounds written by Herbert Schumann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The significance of organometallic chemistry has constantly increased during the second half of this century. Within this area of research the organotin chemistry reigns as one of the most important branches. The decisive reason for this development has been the wide range of potential application of these compounds in industry, technology, and agriculture. The present volume continues the series on Organotin Compounds, which first appeared in 1975 and now comprises a collection of sixteen volumes. The overall plan of the series has been given in the preface of Volume 1. This volume concludes the description of the mononuclear organotin compounds with tin-oxygen bonds. Treatment of organotin compounds with tin-sulfur, -selenium, and -tellurium bonds appeared earlier in the Volumes 9 and 10. Volume 17 describes in detail the following compound types: RSn(OR')3, RSn(OR')2OR," R2Sn(X)OR', RSnX(OR')2, and RSnX2(OR').

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic chemistry is based on the reactions and use of a class of compounds (R-M) that contain a covalent bond between carbon and metal. They are prepared either by direct reaction of the metal with an organic compound or by replacement of a metal from another organometallic substance. This book presents research in this field.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: single toxicant before it, yet one that has now been brought under effective control-at least in estuaries and the nearshore environment. The problem with TBT and its cause was first recognized in France, then in the United Kingdom and the United States of America; and in these and other countries legislation is now in place (see Abel, Chapter 2; Champ and Wade, Chapter 3), but in many countries the hazard is only now being identified. This volume has the important function of making available to all a summary of the results of work on TBT and the main conclusions. It will help to minimize the duplication of research and speed the introduction of legislation around the world to control organotin pollution. It is the more valuable because research on TBT has often been published in less accessible journals and symposium proceedings. This volume brings together accounts of these findings by the major contributors to the TBT story, providing the most comprehensive account to date. The TBT problem has proved to be instructive in a number of different ways beyond the bounds of the specific issue (Stebbing, 1985). Most important is that TBT can be seen as a challenge to monitoring systems for nearshore waters, by which it can be judged how effective monitoring has been in fulfilling its purpose, and what improvements should be made. Most instructive was the time it took to bring TBT under control.
