Book Synopsis Plant Nucleotide Metabolism by : Hiroshi Ashihara
Download or read book Plant Nucleotide Metabolism written by Hiroshi Ashihara and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-01-23 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All organisms produce nucleobases, nucleosides, and nucleotides of purines and pyrimidines. However, while there have been a number of texts on nucleotide metabolism in microorganisms and humans, the presence of these phenomena in plant life has gone comparatively unexplored. This ground-breaking new book is the first to focus exclusively on the aspects of purine nucleotide metabolism and function that are particular to plants, making it a unique and essential resource. The authors provide a comprehensive break down of purine nucleotide structures and metabolic pathways, covering all facets of the topic. Furthermore, they explain the role that purine nucleotides can play in plant development, as well as the effects they may have on human health when ingested. Plant Nucleotide Metabolism offers a unique and important resource to all students, researchers, and lecturers working in plant biochemistry, physiology, chemistry, agricultural sciences, nutrition, and associated fields of research.

Book Synopsis Plant Nitrogen Metabolism by : Jonathan E. Poulton
Download or read book Plant Nitrogen Metabolism written by Jonathan E. Poulton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on papers presented by invited speakers at a symposium entitled "Plant Nitrogen Metabolism" held in conjunction with the 28th Annual Meeting of the Phytochemical Society of North America. The meeting took place on the campus of the University of Iowa at Iowa City during June 26-30, 1988, and attracted 110 participants from 11 countries. The goal of the symposium was to trace the pathway by which nitrogen passes from soil and atmosphere into both primary and secondary nitrogenous metabolites, focusing upon areas which were felt to be most rapidly expanding. From nodulines (nodule specific proteins) and GS/GOGAT mutants to sugar mimics (polyhydroxyalkaloids) and herbicide inhibitors of amino acid metabolism, research in nitrogen metabolism has expanded into areas barely envisioned only a few years ago. Both the nitrogen specialist and the general plant biochemist will be pleased by the range of topics covered here. Following an overview in Chapter 1 of plant nitrogen metabolism, the remaining chapters are loosely organized into three groups. Chapters 2-6 deal primarily with the biochemistry and molecular biology of nitrogen assimilation and transport, Chapters 7-9 with amino acid metabolism, and Chapters 10-12 with secondary metabolites.

Book Synopsis Regulation of Primary Metabolic Pathways in Plants by : Phytochemical Society of Europe
Download or read book Regulation of Primary Metabolic Pathways in Plants written by Phytochemical Society of Europe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1999 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Papers from a January 1997 conference held at St. Hugh's College, Oxford, review progress in the area of primary plant metabolism, and highlight the extent to which molecular techniques now influence the investigation and understanding of plant metabolism. Emphasis is centered on processes related to dominant pathways of carbohydrate production and utilization, and material is arranged to reflect the current focus of researchers on three areas of investigation: molecular architecture of selected enzymes of primary metabolism; integration of metabolism between organelles, cells, tissues, and organs; and manipulation of major pathways of carbohydrate metabolism.
