Es wird aufgezeigt, dass Motivation in allen Phasen des Managementprozesses bedeutsam ist. Ein entscheidender Aspekt für eine gelingende Freiwilligenarbeit ist neben der Tätigkeit des Freiwilligenmanagers auch die verantwortliche Haltung der Trägerorganisation. Beide Faktoren werden daher hier vorgestellt und beschrieben. Nachdem im 2. Kapitel basale Erkenntnisse dargestellt wurden, erfolgt im 4. Teil die Spezifizierung auf den Motivationsaspekt im Freiwilligenmanagement. Hierfür werden Motivationen, Bedürfnisse und Ziele haupt- und ehrenamtlicher Mitarbeiter differenziert erläutert und Umstände aufgeführt, die negative Auswirkungen auf die Begeisterung der Akteure haben.
