Download or read book Design and Simulation of Rail Vehicles written by Maksym Spiryagin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-05-13 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Keep Up with Advancements in the Field of Rail Vehicle Design A thorough understanding of the issues that affect dynamic performance, as well as more inventive methods for controlling rail vehicle dynamics, is needed to meet the demands for safer rail vehicles with higher speed and loads. Design and Simulation of Rail Vehicles examines the field of rail vehicle design, maintenance, and modification, as well as performance issues related to these types of vehicles. This text analyzes rail vehicle design issues and dynamic responses, describes the design and features of rail vehicles, and introduces methods that address the operational conditions of this complex system. Progresses from Basic Concepts and Terminology to Detailed Explanations and Techniques Focused on both non-powered and powered rail vehicles—freight and passenger rolling stock, locomotives, and self-powered vehicles used for public transport—this book introduces the problems involved in designing and modeling all types of rail vehicles. It explores the applications of vehicle dynamics, train operations, and track infrastructure maintenance. It introduces the fundamentals of locomotive design, multibody dynamics, and longitudinal train dynamics, and discusses co-simulation techniques. It also highlights recent advances in rail vehicle design, and contains applicable standards and acceptance tests from around the world. • Includes multidisciplinary simulation approaches • Contains an understanding of rail vehicle design and simulation techniques • Establishes the connection between theory and many simulation examples • Presents simple to advanced rail vehicle design and simulation methodologies Design and Simulation of Rail Vehicles serves as an introductory text for graduate or senior undergraduate students, and as a reference for practicing engineers and researchers investigating performance issues related to these types of vehicles.

Book Synopsis Vehicle Dynamics of Modern Passenger Cars by : Peter Lugner
Download or read book Vehicle Dynamics of Modern Passenger Cars written by Peter Lugner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-05-22 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book provides the essential features necessary to understand and apply the mathematical-mechanical characteristics and tools for vehicle dynamics including control mechanism. An introduction to passenger car modeling of different complexities provides the basics for the dynamical behavior and presents vehicle models later used for the application of control strategies. The presented modeling of the tire behavior, also for transient changes of the contact patch properties, shows the necessary mathematical descriptions used for the simulation of the vehicle dynamics. The introduction to control for cars and its extension to complex applications using e.g. observers and state estimators is a main part of the book. Finally the formulation of proper multibody codes for the simulation leads to the integration of all parts. Examples of simulations and corresponding test verifications show the profit of such a theoretical support for the investigation of the dynamics of passenger cars.

Book Synopsis Vibration Protection Systems by : Chang-Myung Lee
Download or read book Vibration Protection Systems written by Chang-Myung Lee and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-11-18 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design and deploy advanced vibration protection systems based on elastic composites under post-buckling, with this essential reference. Methods for designing vibration protection systems with negative and quasi-zero stiffness are formulated, explained, and demonstrated in practice. All key steps of the system design are covered, including the type and number synthesis, modelling and studying of stress-strain state under post-buckling of elastic composite designs, chaotic dynamics and stability conditions, real-time dimensioning, and active motion control. In addition to coverage of underlying theory, the use in helicopters, buses, railroad vehicles, construction equipment and agricultural machinery are included. An excellent reference for researchers and practicing engineers, as well as a tutorial for university students and professors with an interest in study, development and application of alternative methods of vibration protection anywhere.

Book Synopsis Value-added Management with Design of Experiments by : L.W. Condra
Download or read book Value-added Management with Design of Experiments written by L.W. Condra and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about survival. It is about survival in a world that is changing. It is about survival in an occupation - management - that is almost unrecognizable from the viewpoint of only a few years ago, and one that will change even more rapidly in the future. It is about the ultimate survival tool: that of making oneself useful. Managers can be useful, but maybe not in the traditional sense. This book is written for managers who want to be useful by adding value to society in the form of useful products and services. It is not written for those who view personal advancement or wealth as their primary goal. Former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Thomas P. O'Neill was fond of saying 'All politics is local. ' I would like to appropriate that statement and paraphrase it for this book as 'All management is local. ' By that I mean that ultimately, after the global financing and market strategies are in place, and after the top-level missions and purpose of the organization are stated, the value-added manager must know what to do on Monday morning to get the product into the hands of the customer as quickly and efficiently as possible, and to be sure that the customer is successful in using the product. Increasingly, the top-level executive who creates the grand vision is also the manager who must implement it.

Book Synopsis Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences by : Wade H. Shafer
Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS)* at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dis semination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the though that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemi nation. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 37 (thesis year 1992) a total of 12,549 thesis titles from 25 Canadian and 153 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this impor tant annual reference work. While Volume 37 reports theses submitted in 1992, on occasion, certain uni versities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.
