Book Synopsis Agricultural Systems Management by : Robert M. Peart
Download or read book Agricultural Systems Management written by Robert M. Peart and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004-01-28 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Running a productive agriculture system has always been about having the right tools and the know-how to pursue optimization and efficiency. In the 21st century, the case can be made that the agriculturist's most important tool is not the cultivator, but the computer. While you still need to know how to adapt to the day-to-day challenges of land and climate, just as importantly, you need to know how to make reliable projections based on the manipulation of virtual variables. Practice what you learn with real life examples and practical problem solving exercises Agricultural Systems Management: Optimizing Efficiency and Performance teaches you how to create strategies using readily available off-the-shelf software, spreadsheets, and Internet material to meet the challenges commonly faced in agricultural production, processing, and management. The text provides the step-by-step direction necessary to allow you to obtain optimal results in field and livestock operations, machinery selection, and the planning/forecasting of crops and yield.

Book Synopsis Machinery and Power Selection Models for Paddy Wheat Farms by : R. C. Dash
Download or read book Machinery and Power Selection Models for Paddy Wheat Farms written by R. C. Dash and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-02 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Power and machinery is a single largest cost component, constituting about 60% of the total investment cost on mechanized farm. The profit of a farm depends, to a great extent, on the appropriate mechanization planning of the farm. Selection of proper size of power source(s) and its matching equipment is of paramount importance for an efficient mechanization planning. The bottleneck in the farm mechanization planning has been due to complexity of available machinery systems and their diversity with respect to type, size, number and operational characteristics. The process is further complicated in multiple cropping farms. Several models have been developed for the selection of agricultural machinery system using different techniques, like, linear programming, heuristic models, dynamic programming, and least cost approach. All those models were crop and location specific. This book describes the development of computer based mathematical models using least cost technique and a software for the selection of optimum power and machinery system. The developed models were validated for paddy-wheat crop rotation of Northern India.
