Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sensitivity of active RC networks with respect to variations in the gain of active elements is studied by means of the zeros of the pole-sensitivity function. It is demonstrated that the zeros of sensitivity indicate the effect of the polynomia3 decomposition of a synthesis procedure upon the pole sensitivity. Methods of realizing network functions with presc9ibed decompositions are discussed, and several specific netforks are given. Reduction of the pole sensitivity by control of the zeros of sensitivity ib carried out by means of a digital computer. For quadratic functions, a zero of sensitivity can always be obtained at a real frequency, givi5g a sensitivity characteristic with a minimax optimum. It is shown desirable to realize high-order filters as a cascade of second-order 'pole-pair' u5its. The pole-pair cascade ubing the optimum desensitivity decom7osition is optimal when the gain variations are independent, whereas for high-order filters, the sensitivity reductions possib3e from impr6ving the decompositions are limited. In addicion, strong practical considerations favor the cascade connection. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After an overview of major scientific discoveries of the 18th and 19th centuries, which created electrical science as we know and understand it and led to its useful applications in energy conversion, transmission, manufacturing industry and communications, this Circuits and Systems History book fills a gap in published literature by providing a record of the many outstanding scientists, mathematicians and engineers who laid the foundations of Circuit Theory and Filter Design from the mid-20th Century. Additionally, the book records the history of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society from its origins as the small Circuit Theory Group of the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE), which merged with the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) to form IEEE in 1963, to the large and broad-coverage worldwide IEEE Society which it is today. This second edition, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Circuits and Systems Society, builds upon the first edition's success by expanding the scope of specific chapters, introducing new topics of relevance, and integrating feedback from readers and experts in the field, reflecting the evolving landscape of Circuits and Systems alongside the evolution of the professional society. Many authors from many countries contributed to the creation of this book, working to a very tight time schedule. The result is a substantial contribution to their enthusiasm and expertise, which it is hoped readers will find both interesting and useful. It is certain that in such a book, omission will be found, and in the space and time available, much valuable material had to be left out. It is hoped that this book will stimulate an interest in the marvelous heritage and contributions of the many outstanding people who worked in the Circuits and Systems area.
Book Synopsis CRC Handbook of Electrical Filters by : John Taylor
Download or read book CRC Handbook of Electrical Filters written by John Taylor and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-11-25 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in filter theory and design has been growing with the telecommunications industry since the late nineteenth century. Now that telecommunications has become so critical to industry, filter research has assumed even greater importance at companies and academic institutions around the world. The CRC Handbook of Electrical Filters fills in the gaps for engineers and scientists who need a basic introduction to the subject. Unlike the currently available textbooks, which are filled with detailed, highly technical analysis geared to the specialist, this practical guide provides useful information for the non-specialist about the various types of filters, their design, and applications. The handbook covers approximation theory and methods and introduces CAD packages that perform approximation and synthesis for both analog and digital filters. Also included are design methods for LCR, active-RC, digital, mechanical, and switched capacitor (SC) filters. A thorough survey of current design trends rounds out this complete assessment of a key field of study.
