Par exemple, ordonnancer optimalement (en temps) une application sur une grille de calcul est inutile si elle ne fournit pas de résultat parce qu'une machine tombe en panne. Fournir une solution à ces problèmes est un défi algorithmique actuel. Dans ce manuscrit, nous étudions l'ordonnancement multi-objectif à l'aide des outils de la théorie de l'approximation. Nous traitons ainsi quatre problèmes. Les deux premiers sont inspirés des systèmes embarqués, tandis que les deux derniers sont inspirés des problématiques que l'on retrouve sur les grilles et les clusters. Le premier problème étudié est l'optimisation des performances d'une application sur une machine disposant de peu de mémoire de stockage. Nous montrons que l'utilisation de l'optimisation multi-objectif permet de fournir une solution et des informations sur le problème que la théorie mono-objectif de l'approximation ne pouvait pas obtenir. Les deux problèmes suivants concernent l'optimisation des performances d'une application lorsque les machines ne sont pas entièrement fiables. Les différents modèles de défaillances amènent à des problèmes d'optimisation radicalement différents. C'est pourquoi le deuxième problème traite de la sûreté de fonctionnement des systèmes embarqués alors que le troisième considère la fiabilité des grilles et clusters. Le dernier problème concerne l'utilisation simultanée d'une plate-forme de calcul parallèle par de nombreux utilisateurs. Nous montrons comment l'utilisation de l'optimisation multi-objectif peut permettre de prendre en compte les besoins utilisateurs au sein du processus d'optimisation.

These tools use the concept of multi-population, asynchronous parallelization and hierarchical topology which allows different models including precise, intermediate and approximate models with each node belonging to the different hierarchical layer handled by a different Evolutionary Algorithm. The efficiency of evolutionary algorithms for both single and multi-objective optimization problems are significantly improved by the coupling of EAs with games and in particular by a new dynamic methodology named “Hybridized Nash-Pareto games”. Multi objective Optimization techniques and robust design problems taking into account uncertainties are introduced and explained in detail. Several applications dealing with civil aircraft and UAV, UCAV systems are implemented numerically and discussed. Applications of increasing optimization complexity are presented as well as two hands-on test cases problems. These examples focus on aeronautical applications and will be useful to the practitioner in the laboratory or in industrial design environments. The evolutionary methods coupled with games presented in this volume can be applied to other areas including surface and marine transport, structures, biomedical engineering, renewable energy and environmental problems. This book will be of interest to students, young scientists and engineers involved in the field of multi physics optimization.

Ensuite, nous proposons une nouvelle méthode exacte de résolution des problèmes bi-objectif (la méthode parallèle par partitions - PPM - Parallel Partitioning Method). Nous présentons une extension de cette méthode vers une méthode exacte multi-objectif générale (admettant plus de deux objectifs) et son application à un problème de flow-shop tri-objectif. Les méthodes proposées étant exactes, elles demandent un temps de calcul important. Dans un dernier temps, nous étudions deux moyens de réduire les temps de calcul afin d'obtenir le front Pareto exact : le parallélisme et l'hybridation avec une méthode heuristique. Afin d'ouvrir le sujet de thèse, nous présentons aussi une hybridation entre une méthode exacte et une méta-heuristique retournant un résultat heuristique. Ceci nous montre une des utilisations possibles des méthodes exactes sur les problèmes de grandes tailles.

Describing how family members overly influence one another and distribute stress unevenly, Bowen described both how symptoms and family leaders emerge in highly stressed families. Our brain is not organized to automatically perceive that each family has an emotional system, fine-tuned by evolution and "valuing" its survival as a whole, as much as the survival of any individual. It is easier to see this emotional system function in ants or mice but not in humans. The emotional system is organized to snooker us humans: encouraging us to take sides, run away from others, to pressure others, to get sick, to blame others, and to have great difficulty in seeing our part in problems. It is hard to see that we become anxious, stressed out and even that we are difficult to deal with. But "thinking systems" can open the doors of perception, allowing us to experience the world in a different way. This book offers both coaching ideas and stories from leaders as to strategies to break out from social control by de-triangling, using paradoxes, reversals and other types of interruptions of highly linked emotional processes. Time is needed to think clearly about the automatic nature of the two against one triangle. Time and experience is required as we learn strategies to put two people together and get self outside the control of the system. In addition, it takes time to clarify and define one's principles, to know what "I" will or will not do and to be able to take a stand with others with whom we are very involved. The good news is that systems' thinking is possible for anyone. It is always possible for an individual to understand feelings and to integrate them with their more rational brains. In so doing, an individual increases his or her ability to communicate despite misunderstandings or even rejection from important others. The effort involved in creating your Mindful Compass enables us to perceive the relationship system without experiencing it's threats. The four points on the Mindful Compass are: 1) Action for Self, 2) Resistance to Forward Progress, 3) Knowledge of Social Systems and the 4) The Ability to Stand Alone. Each gives us a view of the process one enters when making an effort to define a self and build an emotional backbone. It is not easy to find our way through the social jungle. The ability to know emotional systems well enough to take a position for self and to become more differentiated is part of the natural way humans cope with pressure. Now people can use available knowledge to build an emotional backbone, by thoughtfully altering their part in the relationship system. No one knows how far one can go by making an effort to be more of a self-defined individual in relationships to others. Through increasing emotional maturity, we can find greater individual freedom at the same time that we increase our ability to cooperate and to be close to others.
