Book Synopsis Sex, War, and "Sin" by : James H. Gailey

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An examination of the Hebrew Scriptures reveals the ethical situations in ancient Israel as a structural analysis, and exposes a covenantal triangle that features a dynamic of giving and receiving, taking and paying penalties, as a meme for human relationships. This can be applied to groups as well as individuals and is surprisingly applicable to life in the twenty-first century. Two senses of "Law"--natural scientific discoveries and the rules laid down by a divine creator--lead to frames for considering these covenantal relationships, and even the existence of "Sin." Are we bound to obey the rules laid down by God, or may we decide what is best for us?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Revisionist” or “alternative” historians have increasingly questioned elements of the Singapore Story — the master narrative of the nation’s political and socioeconomic development since its founding by the British in 1819. Much criticism focuses especially on one defining episode of the Story: the internal security dragnet mounted on 2 February 1963 against Communist United Front elements on the island, known to posterity as Operation Coldstore. The revisionists claim that Coldstore was mounted for political rather than security reasons and actually destroyed a legitimate Progressive Left opposition — personalized by the charismatic figure of Lim Chin Siong — rather than a dangerous Communist network as the conventional wisdom holds. Relying on both declassified and some previously unseen classified sources, this book challenges revisionist claims, reiterating the historic importance of Coldstore in helping pave the way for Singapore’s remarkable journey from Third World status to First in a single generation.
Book Synopsis Deliverance From Sin by : Zacharias Tanee Fomum
Download or read book Deliverance From Sin written by Zacharias Tanee Fomum and published by ZTF Books Online. This book was released on 2015-08-07 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not written to provide theoretical knowledge of God's point of view on the subject. It is about bringing the believer into the spiritual experience of the sanctified life. It is an in-depth study of chapters 6 and 7 of the epistle to the Romans. The believer is saved from the consequence of sin and delivered from the power of sin. Therefore, he can experience deliverance from sin and the power of sin on a daily basis. This book answers two fundamental questions and, by extension, all those related to them: How did we become sinners? How can we get out of Adam's nature? How can we become a slave to righteousness? How can we experience walking by the Spirit? It is also in this book that you can discover the spiritual meaning of the deliverance of the law. It is a true and practical guide in sanctification. May the Lord bless you in its reading.

Book Synopsis Matrix Operations for Engineers and Scientists by : Alan Jeffrey
Download or read book Matrix Operations for Engineers and Scientists written by Alan Jeffrey and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-05 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineers and scientists need to have an introduction to the basics of linear algebra in a context they understand. Computer algebra systems make the manipulation of matrices and the determination of their properties a simple matter, and in practical applications such software is often essential. However, using this tool when learning about matrices, without first gaining a proper understanding of the underlying theory, limits the ability to use matrices and to apply them to new problems. This book explains matrices in the detail required by engineering or science students, and it discusses linear systems of ordinary differential equations. These students require a straightforward introduction to linear algebra illustrated by applications to which they can relate. It caters of the needs of undergraduate engineers in all disciplines, and provides considerable detail where it is likely to be helpful. According to the author the best way to understand the theory of matrices is by working simple exercises designed to emphasize the theory, that at the same time avoid distractions caused by unnecessary numerical calculations. Hence, examples and exercises in this book have been constructed in such a way that wherever calculations are necessary they are straightforward. For example, when a characteristic equation occurs, its roots (the eigenvalues of a matrix) can be found by inspection. The author of this book is Alan Jeffrey, Emeritus Professor of mathematics at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. He has given courses on engineering mathematics at UK and US Universities.
