Book excerpt: Fans of Meghan Quinn, Lisa Suzanne, and Vi Keeland will enjoy this steamy romantic comedy from USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance, Tracy Solheim featuring a kilt-wearing football player who is about to be deported back to Scotland. It was supposed to be just for kicks... Andi Larsen learned early on there is no such thing as fairy godmothers. A childhood spent in foster care will do that to a girl. She’s working her way through night school and is on the cusp of establishing her own business without help from anyone, thank you very much. But when her deadbeat ex steals her identity, amassing a staggering debt in her name, her fairy godmother appears in the guise of a spunky, Fireball whisky-wielding septuagenarian. The older woman’s solution for Andi? Tie the knot with a kilt-wearing, moody jock whose legs look sexier in a skirt than hers do. Declan Fletcher never intended to be a place-kicker for a professional football team. But fate had other plans. Exiled from his beloved Scotland a decade ago, Dex is now a superstar athlete known throughout the league as the “Man with the Million Dollar Leg.” But when a mix-up in his immigration paperwork threatens to send him home before the season begins, he’ll do anything to avoid deportation and facing his greatest mistake. Even if it means marrying a pink-haired waif of a lass with eyes that seem to see everything he’s determined to keep hidden. A grumpy cat, nosy teammates, and a sizzling sexual attraction make their marriage of convenience anything but convenient. This fun, flirty, enemies-to-lovers sports romance delivers a happily ever after that will have you laughing, crying, sighing, and cheering in the end zone. Fans of the movie "The Proposal" will love this first book in the Milwaukee Growlers Football romance series. While part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Convenience is King When you make it easier for customers to do business with you, they will reward you with their money, their loyalty, and their referrals. There’s a reason they call it a convenience store – because it’s convenient! When you have to pick up a gallon of milk, would you rather stop by a large supermarket or a 7-Eleven? Customers who shop at convenience stores know the selection is smaller and the prices are often higher...yet they still come in droves because of the ease of purchase. What about the minibar in your hotel room? That’s convenient too...but the convenience comes at a cost. Did you ever stop to think that the same $5.00 can of Coca-Cola in the hotel’s mini-fridge can be bought down the hall from the vending machine for just $1.25? Yet even with that can of Coke being four times more expensive, hotels are restocking minibars every day. Customers will pay for convenience. And they’ll choose to do more business over time with the people and companies that make their lives more convenient! Whether you’re trying to out-service a competitor or disrupt an entire industry, creating less friction and being more convenient for your customers should be your strategy. When you raise the convenience bar, you create the next level of amazing customer experience. This book shows you how to leverage convenience as a powerful way to differentiate yourself from your competition. You’ll learn six compelling strategies, supported by numerous examples and case studies that will fuel your plan to create a focus on convenience for your customers. The value proposition is both simple and profound: when you reduce friction and make it easier for customers to do business with you, they’ll reward you with their money, their loyalty, and their referrals. That’s the advantage of being a part of The Convenience Revolution.

The last sentence was a bit softer. "What does that mean?" I wasn't sure if I was shouting or whispering. My body went cold. I felt as if my soul was trying to escape the confinement of my skin, as if I was floating outside my own body, but still glued to the table. "Lystra, you have to understand, you and Noella were once one being. The mate of a twin can feel the connection to both of them." "But do you feel the mate bond, Noella?" I asked my sister who still hadn't let Jordan's hand go. What a fool I was, they both were holding hands not just her. "I feel something more, I love him." She defended. "I love her too." Jordan's words echoed in my head. "She isn't your mate. I am." I argued. "No Lystra, she is my mate. I get to choose. I chose her." I heard him, but the words 'I love her too' in his voice was still repeating in my head. Too much to process with the sound of blood in my head. ***** This is the story of Lystra Miller's life after she was rejected, but before finding that happily ever after. A she-wolf whose mate rejected her for her human sister. In a universe where only one in a set of twins is blessed with the ability to shift, this she-wolf lost her mate to her own human twin. Lystra watches her sister and mate live their epic love story for years, then tries to move on when they give birth to a son. Her life is full of tragic and bittersweet moments, but yes she finds love along the way. She would learn not all choices are good ones, but every choice is one you can decide to live by. She will not be A Mate of Convenience. Not even to her mate when he admits to his mistakes. Learn how she overcomes rejection. **** This is a stand-alone book.

Book excerpt: The English-language debut of one of Japan’s most talented contemporary writers, selling over 650,000 copies there, Convenience Store Woman is the heartwarming and surprising story of thirty-six-year-old Tokyo resident Keiko Furukura. Keiko has never fit in, neither in her family, nor in school, but when at the age of eighteen she begins working at the Hiiromachi branch of “Smile Mart,” she finds peace and purpose in her life. In the store, unlike anywhere else, she understands the rules of social interaction—many are laid out line by line in the store’s manual—and she does her best to copy the dress, mannerisms, and speech of her colleagues, playing the part of a “normal” person excellently, more or less. Managers come and go, but Keiko stays at the store for eighteen years. It’s almost hard to tell where the store ends and she begins. Keiko is very happy, but the people close to her, from her family to her coworkers, increasingly pressure her to find a husband, and to start a proper career, prompting her to take desperate action... A brilliant depiction of an unusual psyche and a world hidden from view, Convenience Store Woman is an ironic and sharp-eyed look at contemporary work culture and the pressures to conform, as well as a charming and completely fresh portrait of an unforgettable heroine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its founding, the United States has allied with unsavory dictatorships to thwart even more urgent security threats. How well has the United States managed such alliances, and what have been their consequences for its national security? In this book, Evan N. Resnick examines the negotiating tables between the United States and its allies of convenience since World War II and sets forth a novel theory of alliance bargaining. Resnick’s neoclassical realist theory explains why U.S. leaders negotiate less effectively with unfriendly autocratic states than with friendly liberal ones. Since policy makers struggle to mobilize domestic support for controversial alliances, they seek to cast those allies in the most benign possible light. Yet this strategy has the perverse result of weakening leverage in intra-alliance disputes. Resnick tests his theory on America’s Cold War era alliances with China, Pakistan, and Iraq. In all three cases, otherwise hardline presidents bargained anemically on such pivotal issues as China’s sales of ballistic missiles, Pakistan’s development of nuclear weapons, and Iraq’s sponsorship of international terrorism. In contrast, U.S. leaders are more inclined to bargain aggressively with democratic allies who do not provoke domestic opposition, as occurred with the United Kingdom during the Korean War. An innovative work on a crucial and timely international relations topic, Allies of Convenience explains why the United States has mismanaged these “deals with the devil”—with deadly consequences.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rebuilding of New England during what architectural historians have labeled the Federal period serves as the basis for most Americans visual or mental image of rural New England. This reconstruction became very controversial as a result of the differing definitions of republican virtue, taste, beauty, and economy held by the architects, rural reformers, and those engaged in rebuilding their homes and communities during this time. What could have promoted the attacks, primarily in the agricultural press, on the new two-story-with-ell rural homes? The answer lies in the attitudes and perceptions of cultural aesthetics and the notion of republican virtue. Nora Pat Small sharpens our understanding of the important changes that occurred in the New England landscape during the Federal period, effectively connecting her study of post-Revolutionary reform ideology and political discourse to architectural evidence; the buildings and landscapes express cultural values, aesthetic choice, and personal identity. The Author: Nora Pat Small is an associate professor of history at Eastern Illinois University. She has published articles in William & Mary Quarterly and has contributed chapters to volumes III and VII of Perspectives in Vernacular Architecture. "

But when she arrives at the ranch, studying the latest Cauldron cousin's meeting-at-the-altar, Cade realizes she's exactly what he needs: A wife who will say yes for reasons of her own. A real-life modern marriage of convenience. But after the "I Do"s, real trouble starts, as they realize they don't know everything they thought they did about their new spouse.
