Book excerpt: Table of Contents Introduction Vegetarian by Choice or by Circumstances Self Starvation on Purpose Meals on the Dining Table “I Am Not Going to Eat This…” A Tall Tale of Bacon and Eggs – The Difference between a Vegetarian and a Vegan Diet The Motivation behind a Teenagers Choice to Turn Vegetarian Effect on General Growth Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction You may not believe it but meat eating or the choice not to eat meat has long been the topic of discussion, for centuries, among people of every civilization and nation. In ancient times, it was taken for granted that human beings would eat meat, along with vegetables, roots, and other natural food items, in order to survive and feed their families. That was because they were closer to nature, and human beings descended from meat eating mammals – the great apes, who do not mind eating any smaller animal, if trapped, along with fruit and vegetables – took it for granted that their diet would also consist of meat. On the other hand, with the coming of spiritualism in the minds of philosophers and wise men, who really could not be bothered about diet, because they were so busy thinking up some vague philosophical topic like what is life, what is a soul, what is the reason for living, and other such elevated thoughts, naturally, their followers also ate the same diet, eaten by the Masters. This book is for all of those parents, who are worried about the nutrition of their children, and whether they are getting enough of healthy ingredients in them, to help them grow properly, mentally, physically and psychologically. In many parts of the East, people do not eat meat, but that was because millenniums ago when they decided to turn vegetarian, they were finding it very difficult to survive in harsh environments. So they could not track animals, nor could they trap them. So they decided that a vegetarian diet would do very well for them. And this became the rule instead of the exception, and in a couple of generations, this became the lifestyle. Then came some philosophers and they added not eating meat to the religious rituals so that a person would be proud of being a vegetarian, because he was following one particular religious believer and path. Many of the religions, including Hinduism in the east, where they say that vegetarianism is a part of spiritual elevation will be surprised to know that before Hinduism came into existence, the people living in that area were definitely meat eaters, who enjoyed venison, game, domesticated poultry, and other meat dishes. There are many parts of the world, where even today, the cuisine is totally vegetarian, and the people are not meat eaters. In many parts of Asia, especially in the Indian subcontinent, there are areas, where people have not eaten meat for millenniums, because they make do with fruit and vegetables and milk products.

Download or read book The Fix-It Man written by Dimity Powell and published by Exisle Publishing. This book was released on 2017-03-01 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s handy having a dad who can fix just about anything. A young girl believes her father is the king of fixing things. But following the death of her mother, she discovers that broken hearts are not as easy to repair as damaged toys and cracked teapots. Together, she and her father find a way to glue back the pieces of her lives. The Fix-It Man is a poignant picture book that explores how a child can cope with the loss of a parent (in this case, the young girl’s mother). Repairing damaged emotions is not as straightforward as gluing a broken kite back together or sewing up a torn toy. And grief affects all members of a family, with each responding in their own way to the loss. By sticking with her father, the young girl is able to strengthen her resilience and ability to cope with one of life’s harshest experiences. The author was encouraged to seek publication for this story after receiving the endorsement of several grief counsellors who work with children and who recognised the need for a book such as this.

Download or read book A Course in Complex Analysis written by Saeed Zakeri and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-11-02 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This textbook is intended for a year-long graduate course on complex analysis, a branch of mathematical analysis that has broad applications, particularly in physics, engineering, and applied mathematics. Based on nearly twenty years of classroom lectures, the book is accessible enough for independent study, while the rigorous approach will appeal to more experienced readers and scholars, propelling further research in this field. While other graduate-level complex analysis textbooks do exist, Zakeri takes a distinctive approach by highlighting the geometric properties and topological underpinnings of this area. Zakeri includes more than three hundred and fifty problems, with problem sets at the end of each chapter, along with additional solved examples. Background knowledge of undergraduate analysis and topology is needed, but the thoughtful examples are accessible to beginning graduate students and advanced undergraduates. At the same time, the book has sufficient depth for advanced readers to enhance their own research. The textbook is well-written, clearly illustrated, and peppered with historical information, making it approachable without sacrificing rigor. It is poised to be a valuable textbook for graduate students, filling a needed gap by way of its level and unique approach"--

Book Synopsis Failure Investigation of Boiler Tubes: A Comprehensive Approach by : Paresh Haribhakti
Download or read book Failure Investigation of Boiler Tubes: A Comprehensive Approach written by Paresh Haribhakti and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Failures or forced shutdowns in power plants are often due to boilers, and particularly failure of boiler tubes. This comprehensive resource deals with the subject of failure investigation of boiler tubes from basic fundamentals to practical applications. Coverage includes properties and selection of materials for boiler tubes from a metallurgical view point, damage mechanisms responsible for failure of boiler tubes, and characterization techniques employed for investigating failures of boiler tubes in thermal power plants and utility boilers of industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI) boilers. A large number of case studies based on the actual failures from the field are described, along with photographs and microstructures to allow for easy comprehension of the theory behind the failures. This book is geared to practicing engineers and for studies in the major area of power plant engineering. For non-metallurgists, a chapter has been devoted to the basics of material science, metallurgy of steels, heat treatment, and structure-property correlation. A chapter on materials for boiler tubes covers composition and application of different grades of steels and high temperature alloys currently in use as boiler tubes and future materials to be used in supercritical, ultra-supercritical and advanced ultra-supercritical thermal power plants. A comprehensive discussion on different mechanisms of boiler tube failure is the heart of the book. Additional chapters detailing the role of advanced material characterization techniques in failure investigation and the role of water chemistry in tube failures are key contributions to the book. The authors have long-standing experience in the field of metallurgy and materials technology, failure investigation, remaining life assessment (RLA) and fitness for service (FFS) for industrial plant and equipment, including power plants. They have conducted a large number of failure investigations of boiler tubes and have recommended effective remedial measures in problem solving for power and utility boilers.
Book Synopsis The Complete Enochian Dictionary by : Donald C. Laycock
Download or read book The Complete Enochian Dictionary written by Donald C. Laycock and published by Weiser Books. This book was released on 2023-06-05 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complete reference for understanding the Enochian language (“the language of the angels”), the proper pronunciation of the letters of the Enochian alphabet, and the use of evocations to call forth celestial beings and perform Enochian magic. In 1581, Dr. John Dee, an advisor in the court of Queen Elizabeth I, began a series of scrying experiments intended to explore the ability to contact the spirit world. With Edward Kelley acting as the medium in these experiments, Dee was able to record these communications as they were transmitted in Enochian, the language of the angels. Dr. Dee’s efforts furthered the development of the system of Enochian magic and his methods of invocation have been taken up and expounded upon by Aleister Crowley and many other magicians. Donald C. Laycock has thoroughly analyzed the work of Dee and Kelley. In this volume, he recounts the history of their experiments. He provides a pronunciation guide for the twenty-one letters, significant to untangling both the meaning and the derivation of the messages handed down from Dee and Kelley, and an essential Enochian/English and English/Enochian dictionary. The result is a fascinating linguistic and magical mystery story integral to any study of the Enochian tradition. This new edition of Laycock’s work includes a new preface by Stephen Skinner that sets the tone and historical context for today’s readers. Lon Milo DuQuette’s foreword gives a delightful and edifying description of how he and his students put The Complete Enochian Dictionary to the test with astonishing results. This book is a must-have for any serious magician’s library.
