Book Synopsis On the Theory of Atmospheric Diffusion in Fog Conditions by : M. E. Berli︠a︡nd
Download or read book On the Theory of Atmospheric Diffusion in Fog Conditions written by M. E. Berli︠a︡nd and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study of cases of intense air pollution shows that a part of them is related to periods of extended fogs. The harmful effect of smoke and gaseous admixtures is revealed more sharply in fog than in other weather conditions: an unpleasant feeling from them is increased, the presence of admixtures in fogs furthermore decreases the visibility, etc. One notes a reverse effect when the presence of smoke contributes to the condensation of the atmospheric moisture. In this manner, a mutually increasing effect of smokes and fogs occurs. The report presents the estimates of the influence of river fogs (the theory of which is developed by Berliand and Onikul, on the distribution of gaseous admixtures.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 35th OHOLO Conference, which provided the basis for the present book covered a broad range of topics. Basic studies and newly developed methods in modeling atmospheric flows are discussed, besides analyses of concentration fluctuations in different atmospheric conditions, and techniques of data acquisition. The book gives an excellent state-of-the-art impression of the situation in turbulent diffusion and transport.
Book Synopsis Prediction and Regulation of Air Pollution by : M.E. Berlyand
Download or read book Prediction and Regulation of Air Pollution written by M.E. Berlyand and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investigations of atmospheric pollution have recently reached a new stage. In addition to the estimation and the monitoring of pollutant concentrations in the air around their sources, by way of observational data and also by calcu lations on the basis of theoretical research, it is now possible to make short term forecasts of air pollution and to use them to regulate industrial emissions. Many countries are interested in such forecasts. In the Soviet Union the organizations of the State Committee of the USSR for Hydrometeorology (Goskomgidromet) are carrying out a wide-scale scientific programme on the devising of methods to forecast atmospheric pollution. Prognostic groups are organized in territorial hydrometeocenters; in essence a new forecasting service has been established. Nowadays, in more than 200 towns of the USSR predictions are made and transmitted to large enterprises for the purpose of taking the necessary steps to preserve air qua lity. To ensure an operative working of this service, Methodological Instruc (1979) have been issued, as well as other instructions and guides. Wide tions scale verifications of proposed calculating methods have been made. Prob lems of forecasting and regulating air pollution have become evident lately in other countries as well. Much attention to these problems is payed by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). They have been widely dis cussed in a number of international conferences and meetings for modelling and investigating pollutant distribution in the atmosphere. The number of publications on this subject is rapidly increasing.
