Forty years ago, Dr. Hal Huggins questioned this practice, and now legions of dentists, researchers, and citizens are adding their voices of concern. It’s All in Your Head looks at past research on mercury toxicity and dental amalgams as well as current scientific findings that can no longer be ignored. It describes the possible effects of mercury toxicity, including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Hodgkin’s disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and virtually all autoimmune disorders. Written in easy-to-understand language, It’s All in Your Head explodes the claim that mercury amalgams are safe. If you think your worries are all in your head, you may be right.

Book Synopsis Hazardous Metals in the Environment by : M. Stoeppler
Download or read book Hazardous Metals in the Environment written by M. Stoeppler and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1992-04-13 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The execution of detailed studies on the fate and levels of hazardous elements in the environment, foodstuffs and in human beings has become a major task in environmental research and especially in analytical chemistry. This has led to a demand to develop new methodology and optimize that already in use. The book offers the reader a general introduction to the problem areas that are currently being tackled, followed by chapters on sampling and sample preservation, strategies and applications of the archiving of selected representative specimens for long-term storage in environmental specimen banks. This is supplemented by the example of wine as a preserved - frequently, already historical - specimen which clearly reflects technological changes over time. The following chapters review sample treatment, present an overview on the most frequently and successfully applied trace analytical methods for metals and metal compounds, and introduce the increasingly important methods for identifying and quantifying metal species in sediments and soils (speciation). The chapters in the second part of the book provide data on analytical methods for determining the levels of toxicologically, ecotoxicologically and ecologically important elements in environmental and biological materials, including information on the separation and quantification of chemical and organomatallic species. The elements treated are aluminium, arsenic, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, lead, mercury, nickel, selenium and thallium. The final chapter treats quality assurance and the importance of the continuous use of appropriate reference materials to avoid erroneous results.

Book Synopsis Time Bomb from Within by : Dr. Stuart Scheckner
Download or read book Time Bomb from Within written by Dr. Stuart Scheckner and published by Abbott Press. This book was released on 2012-10-25 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a gem. It hits hard at just how simple it is to be poisoned from the vapors from mercury and mercury amalgam exposures and yet just how difficult it is to achieve understanding from anyone in either the health care industry or society in general. Dr. Scheckner is able to take the reader on a journey of just how simple it is for mercury to slowly and silently destroy someones life. People are being hurt, not only from the damaging effects of mercury on ones health, but also from the battle that it takes to achieve acceptance and recognition that mercury poisoning is a disease. This is a compelling story that all too many people in our profession of dentistry and patients who have been treated with mercury amalgam have faced and, because of a societal lack of understanding, will continue to face, unless we start to wake up and stop using this insidious and pernicious agent. Time Bomb from Within: Mercury Poisoning in Dentistry is a simple but heart-wrenching read for every dental health care professional and anyone who has, or has ever had, a mercury amalgam filling. Dr. Nestor B Shapka, BSc, DDS, IAOMT; president of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology
