Download or read book Robust Aeroservoelastic Stability Analysis written by Rick Lind and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage technology transfer in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology impacts all areas of the control discipline. New theory, new controllers, actuators, sensors, new industrial processes, computer methods, new applications, new philosophies, . . . . , new challenges. Much of this deVelopment work resides in industrial reports, feasibility study papers and the reports of advanced collaborative projects. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of such new work in all aspects of industrial control for wider and rapid dissemination. The high performance control systems applications in aerospace and astronautics almost have a tradition of exploiting the most advanced control theoretical developments first. The optimal control and ffitering paradigm associated with the names of Kalman, Bucy, Anderson and Moore found application in the astronautics of the 1960'S and 1970'S. At the beginning of the 1980'S, control theory moved on to robustness, singular values and mu-analysis. This new work was associated with the names of Zames, Doyle, Glover, Balas among others. The Advances in Industrial Control monograph series have published several volumes over the years which have archived the applications experience garnered from applying robust control to the aerospace sector problems. Rick Lind and Marty Brenner add to this set with their volume on robust aeroservoelastic stability. This volume reports the application of the structured singular value to aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic aerospace problems.

Book Synopsis Remote Sensing Application for Precision Agriculture by : Matthew McCabe
Download or read book Remote Sensing Application for Precision Agriculture written by Matthew McCabe and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-08-11 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Precision agriculture is used to improve site-specific agricultural decision-making based on data collection and analysis, formulation of site-specific management recommendations, and implementation of management practices to correct for factors that can limit crop growth, yield, and quality. Various approaches for the remote sensing of soil fertility, water stress, diseases and infestations, and crop growth and condition have been developed and applied for precision agricultural purposes. With developments in remote sensing technologies, the spatial and spectral resolution and return frequencies available from both satellite and other remote collection platforms have improved to the point that the promise of precision agriculture can increasingly be realized. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in particular are providing newer and deeper insights, leveraging their high resolution, sensor-carrying flexibility and dynamic acquisition schedule. This range of remote sensing platforms has been used to estimate comprehensive information related to crop health and dynamics, providing rapid retrievals of leaf area index, canopy cover, chlorophyll, nitrogen, canopy/leaf water content, canopy/leaf temperature, biomass, and yield, amongst many other variables of interest. In combination, they allow for the expansion from local to regional scales and beyond. There has never been a greater opportunity for remote sensing data to enable precision agricultural insights that can be used to better monitor, manage and respond to in-field changes that might impact crop growth, health and yield.

Book Synopsis Flood Forecasting Using Machine Learning Methods by : Fi-John Chang
Download or read book Flood Forecasting Using Machine Learning Methods written by Fi-John Chang and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-02-28 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nowadays, the degree and scale of flood hazards has been massively increasing as a result of the changing climate, and large-scale floods jeopardize lives and properties, causing great economic losses, in the inundation-prone areas of the world. Early flood warning systems are promising countermeasures against flood hazards and losses. A collaborative assessment according to multiple disciplines, comprising hydrology, remote sensing, and meteorology, of the magnitude and impacts of flood hazards on inundation areas significantly contributes to model the integrity and precision of flood forecasting. Methodologically oriented countermeasures against flood hazards may involve the forecasting of reservoir inflows, river flows, tropical cyclone tracks, and flooding at different lead times and/or scales. Analyses of impacts, risks, uncertainty, resilience, and scenarios coupled with policy-oriented suggestions will give information for flood hazard mitigation. Emerging advances in computing technologies coupled with big-data mining have boosted data-driven applications, among which Machine Learning technology, with its flexibility and scalability in pattern extraction, has modernized not only scientific thinking but also predictive applications. This book explores recent Machine Learning advances on flood forecast and management in a timely manner and presents interdisciplinary approaches to modelling the complexity of flood hazards-related issues, with contributions to integrative solutions from a local, regional or global perspective.
Book Synopsis Advances in Artificial Intelligence Application in Data Analysis and Control of Smart Grid by : Xin Ning
Download or read book Advances in Artificial Intelligence Application in Data Analysis and Control of Smart Grid written by Xin Ning and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-11-23 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smart grid (SG) is considered a form of intelligent system that allows the electric grid to perform its functions efficiently. The SG is a network that allows for the flow of electrical energy and data, where the data is used to make intelligent decisions in the operation of the electric grid. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, such as expert system (ES), Machine Learning (ML), and deep Learning (DL) have brought an advancing frontier in power electronics and power engineering with their powerful data processing capabilities. The SG relies on the flow of data to make its intelligent control; therefore, AI technology is a perfect fit for the SG. The application of AI technology in the SG has the potential to improve the intelligence of the SG. This research topic is focused on ways of improving the data analysis and control of SG by leveraging technologies. Manuscripts with the progress made in solving a range of miscellaneous and critical problems in SG by leveraging AI methods such as ES, ML, and DL methods are welcome.
