Book Synopsis Ghost South Road by : Scott Hamilton
Download or read book Ghost South Road written by Scott Hamilton and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Great South Road was built in 1862 to carry a British army into the Waikato Kingdom. When the British invaded the Waikato in 1863, soldiers shared the road with Maori refugees from Auckland. Today the eroding earthen walls of forts and pa and military cemeteries remember the road's history. They sit beside the car dealerships and kava bars and pawn shops of South Auckland, the most culturally diverse part of the world's most culturally diverse city. On their journeys up and down the Great South Road, Hamilton, Janman, and Powell have learned how the route's tragic past affects its present, and discovered the ways in which the road connects as well as divides the communities that live alongside it. Ghost South Road features obscure as well as famous figures from New Zealand history and illustrates the epic walk that the author and photographers made along the two hundred kilometre length of the Great South Road.

On 20 July he married Eliza Jane Webber at Spring Grove, Middlesex. They arrived at Auckland in February 1870. Their six children were born within the decade. Elected as Anglican primate of New Zealand in 1895, Cowie announced his intention to resign as bishop shortly before his death at Parnell, Auckland, on 26 June 1902. It gives a significant personal insight into the work of a colonial bishop.

Book Synopsis Capital and Uncertainty by : Ian Charles Runge
Download or read book Capital and Uncertainty written by Ian Charles Runge and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2000 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analyzes capital investment as a process in which an individual, entrepreneur, or organization comes to understand "value" before making a choice. Runge, an economist and mining engineer based in Australia, maintains that subjective value and uncertainty inform investment decision-making far more than the calculus of simple neoclassical choice suggests. His model of the capital investment process within a firm analyzes uncertainty and where it translates into risk. Runge sets out theories and tools for choosing between alternatives with differing risk and return profiles. His model provides a framework for decision-making that can lead to choices with lower overall risk, higher returns, and increased value. Annotation copyrighted by Book News Inc., Portland, OR
