Book Synopsis Design Integration Using Autodesk Revit 2013 by : Daniel John Stine
Download or read book Design Integration Using Autodesk Revit 2013 written by Daniel John Stine and published by SDC Publications. This book was released on 2012 with total page 711 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design Integration Using Autodesk Revit 2013 is designed to provide the reader with a well-rounded knowledge of Autodesk Revit tools and techniques. All three flavors of the Revit platform are introduced in this textbook. This approach gives the reader a broad overview of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process. The topics cover the design integration of most of the building disciplines: Architectural, Interior Design, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical. Civil is not covered, but adding topography to your model is. Each book comes with a DVD containing numerous video presentations of the written material. Throughout the book the student develops a two story law office. The drawings start with the floor plans and develop all the way to photo-realistic renderings similar to the one on the cover of this book. Along the way the building's structure, ductwork, plumbing and electrical (power and lighting) are modeled. By the end the reader will have thorough knowledge of many of the Revit basics needed to be productive in a classroom or office environment. Even if you will only be working with one component of Revit in your chosen profession, this book will give you important knowledge on how the other disciplines will be doing their work and valuable insight into the overall process. As an instructor, the author understands that many students in a classroom setting have varying degrees of computer experience. To help level the playing field the first chapter is devoted to an introduction to computers. Much of the basics are covered, from computer hardware and software to file management procedures: including step-by-step instructions on using a flash drive. Chapters 2 through 5 cover many of the Revit basics needed to successfully and efficiently work in the software. Once the fundamentals are covered, the remaining chapters walk the reader through a building project which is started from scratch so nothing is taken for granted by the reader or the author.

Book Synopsis Educational Reciprocity and Adaptivity by : Abe Ata
Download or read book Educational Reciprocity and Adaptivity written by Abe Ata and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-12-22 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Educational Reciprocity and Adaptability challenges the common belief that adapting to new educational settings is the responsibility of international students alone. The book argues that reciprocal responses are required by students and stakeholders alike for an efficient and equitable accommodation of international students in educational settings. Considering how international students negotiate academic challenges and social tensions, it presents both theoretical frameworks and practical tools to work around the tension regarding ethical academic practices. Crucially exploring these issues across a range of geographical and institutional contexts, and therefore offering critical insights into significant developments in international education across the world, the much-needed research in this edited collection explores: institutional educational policies regarding international students and stakeholders; institutional practices and how they are received; educational adaptability and responses from different stakeholders; the experiences of international students and institutions in negotiating academic and social tensions. This important contribution to research on the experiences of international students in different geographical and educational contexts is of great interest to academics, researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of international education, comparative education, sociology of education, youth studies, intercultural studies, migration studies and TESOL.
Book Synopsis Recruiting International Students in Higher Education by : Sylvie Lomer
Download or read book Recruiting International Students in Higher Education written by Sylvie Lomer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-07-24 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive overview and critical analysis of the UK’s policy on recruiting international students. In a global context of international education policy, it examines changes from New Labour policies under Tony Blair’s Prime Minister’s Initiative, to the more recent Coalition and Conservative Government policies in the International Education Strategy. The research uses a text-based approach to primary research, adopting a critical framework developed by Carol Bacchi (‘what is the problem represented to be’?). The book argues that international student policy can be reduced to reasons for and against recruiting international students; in doing so, students are represented as ambassadors for the UK or tools in its public diplomacy, consumers and generators of reputation, means to get money, and as migrants of questionable legitimacy. These homogenizing representations have the potential to shape international education, implicating academics as agents of policy, and infringing on students’ self-formation. The book will be compelling reading for students and researchers in the fields of education and sociology, as well as those interested in education policy-making.
