Acana - de - açúcar pode receber N proveniente destas duas fontes e, portanto, formula-se a hipótese de que o Mo é fator de produção desta cultura, pois o seu fornecimento adequado é necessário para que a elevada demanda de N pelas plantas seja atendida, principalmente pela otimização de contribuição da FBN na nutrição nitrogenada. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram: (a) quantificar a contribuição da FBN na cultura da cana - de - açúcar em lavouras comerciais nas principais regiões produtoras do Brasil. (b) avaliar e calibrar tçnicas de determinação de Mo em tecido de plantas de cana - de - açúcar, e técnicas de detecção em solos cultivados com cana - de - açúcar com diponibilidade de Mo limitantes. (c) Calibração de doses recomendáveis e níveis críticos de Mo na cultura da cana - de - açúcar na região de baixada em Campos dos Goytacazes /RJ. (d) avaliação do estado nutricional da cultura da cana - de - açúcar em lavouras comerciais, com ênfase em micronutrientes. Um diagnóstico da contribuição da FBN para a cultura da cana - de - açúcar através da aplicação da técnica da abundância natural de 15N foi realizado em lavouras comerciais localizadas em usinas, Destilarias e em propriedades de produtores/ fornecedores nos Estados da Federação Minas gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo, abrangendo culturas em primeiro ciclo (cana - planta) e a partir do segundo ciclo (socarias) cujas principais variedades cultivadas atualmente foram amostradas. A aplicação da técnica da abundância natural de 15N para a cultura da cana - de - açúcar possibilitou a quantificação da contribuição da FBN para as plantas, a qual variou entre zero a 60%, com média de 32%. O ciclo cultural da lavoura não influenciou a magnitude da contribuição da FBN para as plantas, enquanto a fertilidade natural do solo e nutrição mineral das plantas, principalmente micronutrientes, devem ser monitorados são essenciais para a otimização da contribuição deste processo para a nutrição nitrogenada das plantas na cultura da cana - de - açúcar. Os teores de MO nas plantas de cana - de - açúcar amostradas nas lavouras em estudo foi determinado através do uso de técnicas de espectrometria, por emissão de plasma em ICP-AES e DCP-MAES, e de e espectrometria, por emissão de plasma em em ICP-AES e DCP-MAES, e de espectrofometria de absorção molecular aon iodeto de potássio e peróxido de hidrogênio(KI-H2O2).A técnica do DCP-MAES superestimou os teores de Mo nas plantas de cana-de-açúcar, principalmente nas amostrasque apresentaram concentrações de Mo abaixo de um miligrama por kilograma. As técnicas do ICP-AES e KI-H2O2 apresemtaram exatidão e precisão elevadas, sendo que a de KI-H2O2 apresentou maior sensibilidade com limite mínimo de detecção quatro vezes menor que a técnica de ICP-EAS, sendo mais adequadapara a detecção de concentrações de Mo nas folhas de cana-de açúcar abaixo de 0,50mg/kg, neste estudo. Os teores de Mo observados nas folhas de cana de açúcar não se correlacionaram com a produção das lavouras e com a contribuição da FBN para as plantas, quando avaliado isoladamente. A disponibilidade de Mo vos solos das lavouras limitou a contribuição da FBN para as plantas e, possivelmente, a produção da cultura. A influência da aplicação de Mo na otimização da nutrição nitrogenada foi avaliada em experimento fatorial com níveis de Mo e de N aplicados às plantas de canas-de-açúcar cultivadas em lavoura localizadas em solo de baixafertilidade maturais, na região de Campos dos Goytacazes/RJ. A aplicação de No isoladamente aumentou a produção da cultura em 25%. A aplicação de Mo juntamente com o N-fertilizante possibilitou a diminuição em 50 % da necessidade de aplicação deste último. A produção da cultura nos tratamentos que receberam apenas aplicação de N-fertilizantes foi significativamente menor que a observada pela aplicação da maior dose de Mo (400 g/há), isoladamente. O nível crítico de Mo nas folhas das plantas para a máxima eficiência física (MEF) da produção de colmos pela cultura foi de 0,32 mg/kg, e para a produção equivalente à máxima eficiência econômica (MEE=95% da MEE) apresentou-se na faixa entre 0,25 a 0,41 mg/kg de Mo, independente do nível de aplicação de N-fertilizante. No entanto, neste estudo observou-se tendência de o nível crítico de Mo Ter sido influenciado pelo nível de N-fertilizante aplicado na lavoura. A contribuição da FBN para as plantas foi de 50% em média nos tratamentos que receberam apenas aplicação de Mo. A aplicação de Mo isoladamente estimulou a população de bactérias diazotróficas associadas às plantas de cana - de - açúcar, herbaspirillum sp. E Azospirillum spp. E Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus presentes nas raízes das plantas. Aaplicação de N-fertilizante apresentou efeito negativo nas populações destas bactérias, principalmente na dose equivalente a 120 kg/há de N.A efici6encia da recuperação do N-fertilizante pelas plantas de cana - de - açúcar foi de 50%, nos tratamentos que receberam a dose equivalente e 60 kg/, e não foi significativamente afetada pela aplicação de Mo. A avaliação do estado nutricional global das plantas de cana - de - açúcar foi feita pelo uso do sistema integrado de diagnose e recomendação (DRIS) proposto para os nutrientes N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, ZN, Cu, B e Mo. Avaliou-se a inclusão do Mo no sistema DRIS e de uma maneira geral, em lavouras que apresentaram limitação deste micronutriente a contribuição da FBN para as plantas de cana-de-açúcar não foi significativa.
