Furthermore, regulatory and institutional obstacles-including limits on nurses' scope of practice-should be removed so that the health system can reap the full benefit of nurses' training, skills, and knowledge in patient care. In this book, the Institute of Medicine makes recommendations for an action-oriented blueprint for the future of nursing.

The full page picture of the dual-role dressed female nurse is striking as an initial visual. This book is current and comprehensive. It documents the development of professional nursing with clarity, relevance, and scholarly simplicity that is valid. Its use is for both undergraduate and graduate nursing students to acquire appreciation of professional nursing. The authors stimulate the reader to research related subjects such associology of healthcare reform. The reader gains sense of value and worth of professional nursing. The authors are focused, and objective and purpose are met. I recommend the book for library, bookstore, and individual purchase.
