Download or read book Jakob von Gunten written by Robert Walser and published by New York Review of Books. This book was released on 1999-09-30 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Swiss writer Robert Walser is one of the quiet geniuses of twentieth-century literature. Largely self-taught and altogether indifferent to worldly success, Walser wrote a range of short stories, essays, as well as four novels, of which Jakob von Gunten is widely recognized as the finest. The book is a young man's inquisitive and irreverent account of life in what turns out to be the most uncanny of schools. It is the work of an outsider artist, a writer of uncompromising originality and disconcerting humor, whose beautiful sentences have the simplicity and strangeness of a painting by Henri Rousseau.

Download or read book Work Stress and Health in a Globalized Economy written by Johannes Siegrist and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-06 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive, updated summary of research evidence on the effects of stressful working and employment conditions on workers’ health, as based on one of the worldwide leading theoretical models, effort-reward imbalance. It offers three innovative features that are appealing for research as well as for policy. Firstly, it presents and discusses comparable research findings from different continents, in particular from Japan, China, and Latin America. Secondly, it extends the conceptual framework of research on this topic by analysing associations of work stress with health in a life course perspective, and by linking these associations to the macro-level of national labour and social policies. Thirdly, the book helps to strengthen programs and policies that aim at promoting healthy work locally, nationally, and internationally, by providing solid facts on which such programs can be based.

His bosses were leaving him in charge of some singer while he had other more important things to take care of. Derek's career wouldn't handle the news and Max can't live a lie. Yet when a summer fling becomes love, who will be willing to risk it all for a chance at forever?
Book Synopsis Kinderleben, oder, Das Märchen ohne Ende by : Friedrich Wilhelm Carové
Download or read book Kinderleben, oder, Das Märchen ohne Ende written by Friedrich Wilhelm Carové and published by Camden House. This book was released on 1995 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fascinating analysis of one of the most popular children's works of all time. Kinderleben oder das Mährchen ohne Ende (1830) is a unique product of late German Romanticism. As a Kunstmärchen or 'artificial' fairy tale (as opposed to the more 'authentic' tales collected by the Grimm brothers, for example) it combines aspects of the traditional fairy tale with philosophical ideals, particularly those of idealism. Although only one edition ever appeared in Germany, it enjoyed wide popularity in England and the United States as The Story Without an End (1834), adapted by the foremost English translator of the period, Sarah Austin, on whom much critical attention has recently been focused. This new edition of text and translation includes a valuablecommentary with notes on the nine illustrators and a list of all previous editions of the work.

Download or read book Von Richthofen bis Remarque written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Longevity Paradox by : Dr. Steven R. Gundry, MD
Download or read book The Longevity Paradox written by Dr. Steven R. Gundry, MD and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2019-03-19 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the New York Times bestseller The Plant Paradox comes a groundbreaking plan for living a long, healthy, happy life. From the moment we are born, our cells begin to age. But aging does not have to mean decline. World-renowned surgeon Dr. Steven Gundry has been treating mature patients for most of his career. He knows that everyone thinks they want to live forever, until they hit middle age and witness the suffering of their parents and even their peers. So how do we solve the paradox of wanting to live to a ripe old age—but enjoy the benefits of youth? This groundbreaking book holds the answer. Working with thousands of patients, Dr. Gundry has discovered that the “diseases of aging” we most fear are not simply a function of age; rather, they are a byproduct of the way we have lived over the decades. In The Longevity Paradox, he maps out a new approach to aging well—one that is based on supporting the health of the “oldest” parts of us: the microorganisms that live within our bodies. Our gut bugs—the bacteria that make up the microbiome—largely determine our health over the years. From diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s to common ailments like arthritis to our weight and the appearance of our skin, these bugs are in the driver’s seat, controlling our quality of life as we age. The good news is, it’s never too late to support these microbes and give them what they need to help them—and you—thrive. In The Longevity Paradox, Dr. Gundry outlines a nutrition and lifestyle plan to support gut health and live well for decades to come. A progressive take on the new science of aging, The Longevity Paradox offers an action plan to prevent and reverse disease as well as simple hacks to help anyone look and feel younger and more vital.
