Book Synopsis Turbulent Swirling Flow Downstream of an Abrupt Pipe Expansion -- Modeling and Experimental Measurements by : Darryl E. Metzger
Download or read book Turbulent Swirling Flow Downstream of an Abrupt Pipe Expansion -- Modeling and Experimental Measurements written by Darryl E. Metzger and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report covers activities during the first year under ONR contract N00014-81-K-0428. The project is a combined experimental and numerical investigation of heat transfer and fluid dynamic characteristics of a turbulent swirling flow in a pipe downstream of a sudden expansion. Local wall heat transfer measurements as well as detailed flowfield measurements utilizing laser-Doppler velocimetry (LDV) techniques are planned for the experiments. Numerical modeling efforts will focus on the development of a code which is efficient enough to be useful for design purposes, while accurately modeling the flow field.

This book was released on 1987 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contents: A study of sudden expansion pipe flow using an algebraic-stress model of turbulence; Comment on 'The flowfield in a suddenly enlarged combustion chamber'; Turbulent flow prediction in a sudden axisymmetric expansion; Heat transfer to turbulent swirling flow through a sudden axisymmetric expansion; Measurements in turbulent swirling flow through an abrupt axisymmetric expansion. The first three papers describe numerical predictions of the flowfield; The next describes experimental measurements of local convective heat transfer on the tube walls downstream of expansion; and the last describes detailed mean and fluctuating flowfield measurements both upstream and downstream of the expansion including precessing vortex core phenomena.

Book Synopsis Logan's Turbomachinery by : Bijay Sultanian
Download or read book Logan's Turbomachinery written by Bijay Sultanian and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-01-15 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Logan's Turbomachinery: Flowpath Design and Performance Fundamentals, Third Edition is the long-awaited revision of this classic textbook, thoroughly updated by Dr. Bijay Sultanian. While the basic concepts remain constant, turbomachinery design has advanced since the Second Edition was published in 1993. Airfoils in modern turbomachines feature three-dimensional geometries, Computational Fluid Mechanics (CFD) has become a standard design tool, and major advances have been made in the materials and manufacturing technologies that affect turbomachinery design. The new edition adresses these trends to best serve today's students, and design engineers working in turbomachinery industries.

Download or read book Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Jets, Wakes and Separated Flows (ICJWSF2015) written by Antonio Segalini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-18 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects various contributions from the 5th International Conference on Jets, Wakes and Separated Flows (ICJWSF2015) that took place in Stockholm during June 2015. Researchers from all around the world presented their latest results concerning fundamental and applied aspects of fluid dynamics. With its general character, the conference embraced many aspects of fluid dynamics, such as shear flows, multiphase flows and vortex flows, for instance. The structure of the present book reflects the variety of topics treated within the conference i.e. Jets, Wakes, Separated flows, Vehicle aerodynamics, Wall-bounded and confined flows, Noise, Turbomachinery flows, Multiphase and reacting flows, Vortex dynamics, Energy-related flows and a section dedicated to Numerical analyses.

Book Synopsis Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Flows by : Roland Schiestel
Download or read book Modeling and Simulation of Turbulent Flows written by Roland Schiestel and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-01-05 with total page 751 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title provides the fundamental bases for developing turbulence models on rational grounds. The main different methods of approach are considered, ranging from statistical modelling at various degrees of complexity to numerical simulations of turbulence. Each of these various methods has its own specific performances and limitations, which appear to be complementary rather than competitive. After a discussion of the basic concepts, mathematical tools and methods for closure, the book considers second order closure models. Emphasis is placed upon this approach because it embodies potentials for clarifying numerous problems in turbulent shear flows. Simpler, generally older models are then presented as simplified versions of the more general second order models. The influence of extra physical parameters is also considered. Finally, the book concludes by examining large Eddy numerical simulations methods. Given the book’s comprehensive coverage, those involved in the theoretical or practical study of turbulence problems in fluids will find this a useful and informative read.
