Book Synopsis Nuclear Finance by : Dr Anders Kjellman
Download or read book Nuclear Finance written by Dr Anders Kjellman and published by novum pro Verlag. This book was released on 2022-02-27 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At any time, unexpectedly our finance-driven world can explode with devastating consequences. As it did with the default of Lehman Brothers in 2008 and the Corona pandemic of 2020. Disruptions like Bitcoin, payment platforms, fraud and nuclear war can fast cause a chain reaction like a devastating nuclear bomb. How should managers prepare and act in these times which we call the "Age of Nuclear Finance"? The purpose of this book is to analyse and provide guidelines on how bank managers and customers can adapt to the challenges being faced during the 4th industrial revolution. There has never been so much money, nor regulation around. And the banking sector is changing, due to negative interest rates, disruptive financial innovations and technology.

Download or read book Nuclear New Build written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear new build has been progressing steadily since the year 2000, with the construction of 94 new reactors initiated and 56 completed reactors connected to the grid. Among these new reactors are some of the first generation III/III+ reactors of their kind. Drawing on a combination of conceptual analysis, expert opinion and seven in-depth case studies, this report provides policy makers and stakeholders with an overview of the principal challenges facing nuclear new build today, as well as ways to address and overcome them. It focuses on the most important challenges of building a new nuclear power plant, namely assembling the conditions necessary to successfully finance and manage highly complex construction processes and their supply chains. Different projects have chosen different paths, but they nonetheless share a number of features. Financing capital-intensive nuclear new build projects requires, for example, the long-term stabilisation of electricity prices whether through tariffs, power purchase agreements or contracts for difference. In construction, the global convergence of engineering codes and quality standards would also promote both competition and public confidence. In addition, change management, early supply chain planning and "soft issues" such as leadership, team building and trust have emerged over and again as key factors in the new build construction process. This report looks at ongoing trends in these areas and possible ways forward.
Book Synopsis The Economic History of Nuclear Energy in Spain by : M.d.Mar Rubio-Varas
Download or read book The Economic History of Nuclear Energy in Spain written by M.d.Mar Rubio-Varas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-10 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the economic history of the nuclear program in Spain, from its inception in the 1950s to the nuclear moratorium in the early 1980s, and investigates the economic, financial and business origins of atomic energy in Spain. The actual dimension of the Spanish nuclear sector, which exceeded the relative economic and political clout of the country at the time, reflects the combination of domestic and foreign interests. Each contribution inserts the Spanish case within the international development of nuclear energy, but also shows how the Spanish nuclear program came about, how it was financed, and who the main architects and beneficiaries at the industrial, financial, commercial and banking levels were; all without losing sight of the energy policy aspects such as energy mix and energy security. The volume provides useful analysis and sources for a variety of core fields across the social sciences including economic history of post-war Europe, industrial and energy policy, international relations and history of technology.

Book excerpt: It was a time when banks were expanding and then surprisingly exploding. Disruptions like Bitcoin, payment platforms, fraud and nuclear war can fast cause a chain reaction like a devastating nuclear bomb. The banking sector is changing, due to negative interest rates, disruptive financial innovations and technology. It was the beginning of the Age of Nuclear Finance. The Global Financial Crisis followed in the footsteps of the creation of the US shadow bank market that exploded with the default of Lehman Brothers in 2008. The coronavirus, COVID-19, also emerged unexpectedly in 2020 and exploded, sending shock waves all over the world. It was difficult to understand what really happened afterwards. And the next nuclear bomb is waiting around the corner. One thing for sure is that banking will never be the same again. The purpose of this book is to analyse and provide guidelines on how bank managers and customers can adapt to the challenges being faced during the fourth industrial revolution. There has never been so much money, nor regulation around.

Book excerpt: This open access book discusses the eroding economics of nuclear power for electricity generation as well as technical, legal, and political acceptance issues. The use of nuclear power for electricity generation is still a heavily disputed issue. Book Synopsis The Financing of Nuclear Power Plants by :
Download or read book The Financing of Nuclear Power Plants written by and published by Organization for Economic. This book was released on 2009 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many countries have recognized that greater use of nuclear power could play a valuable role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. However, given the high capital cost and complexity of nuclear power plants, financing their construction often remains a challenge. This is especially true where such financing is left to the private sector in the context of competitive electricity markets. This study examines the financial risks involved in investing in a new nuclear power plant, how these can be mitigated, and how projects can be structured so that residual risks are taken by those best able to manage them. Given that expansion of nuclear power programs will require strong and sustained government support, the study highlights the role of governments in facilitating and encouraging investment in new nuclear generating capacity.--Publisher's description.
