Un module améliorant le calcul de l'extinction par les aérosols est implémenté dans le Modèle de Climat Global (GCM) martien du LMD, et permet de prendre en compte au cours de la simulation les variations 3D des propriétés radiatives des particules en fonction de leur évolution en taille. Le modèle est d'abord utilisé pour revisiter l'impact radiatif de la poussière atmosphérique. De nouvelles propriétés des poussières sont utilisées et couplées à un schéma de transport guidé par les opacités observées. Pour la première fois, les températures simulées sont en accord avec les observations sans que l'on ait besoin d'ajuster artificiellement l'opacité des poussières. Ce cycle des poussières est ensuite couplé au cycle de l'eau, et l'effet radiatif des nuages est ajouté. Pour mieux contraindre ces travaux, l'évolution diurne des nuages est d'abord cartographiée grâce au spectromètre imageur OMEGA, puis la taille des cristaux et l'opacité des nuages sont mesurées. Le cycle de l'eau du GCM est ensuite ajusté à ces observations, et l'effet radiatif des nuages est analysé. Un assèchement global du cycle de l'eau est observé, tandis que les derniers biais de température significatifs disparaissent. Le grand rôle joué par les poussières lors des changements climatiques récents est enfin mis en évidence dans un scénario expliquant l'origine des glaciations des moyennes latitudes Nord. La répartition longitudinale des dépôts est expliquée, et la sensibilité de la glaciation aux paramètres orbitaux et à l'inertie thermique de la glace est étudiée.
