This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis An Introduction to the African Convention on the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources by : World Conservation Union
Download or read book An Introduction to the African Convention on the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources written by World Conservation Union and published by IUCN. This book was released on 2009 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The African Convention on the conservation of nature and natural resources was adopted in 1968 in Algiers. Considered the most forward looking regional agreement of the time, it influenced significantly the development of environmental law in Africa. Two and a half decades of intense developments in international environmental law made it necessary to revise this treaty, update its provisions and enlarge its scope. This was undertaken under the auspices of the African Union (previously OAU), and the revision was adopted by its Heads of State and Government in July 2003 in Maputo. The introduction provides an overview of this new international treaty, as well as a commentary to each of its provisions.
Book Synopsis Innovation and the Social Economy by : Marie J. Bouchard
Download or read book Innovation and the Social Economy written by Marie J. Bouchard and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2013-03-07 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social economy organizations such as cooperatives, non-profits, mutual benefit groups, foundations, and non-governmental organizations are uniquely positioned to respond not only to emerging social and economic needs, but also to new collective aspirations. In Québec, for instance, a pioneering social economy system has been developed that is recognized worldwide for its ability to foster innovative solutions to economic disparity and sustainability issues. In the wake of a global crisis that has emphasized the growing gap between economic and social concerns, what can other regions gain from this model? Through robust theoretical and in-depth empirical studies, this book offers the first opportunity to English-language readers to learn about the Québec experience of a social economy system. It takes stock of recent developments in the province relating to policy planning, governance, financing, local development, and legal frameworks. Innovation and the Social Economy also emphasizes this system’s potential for exploring alternative practices of production, consumption, and distribution that can foster social transformation.
Book Synopsis Prejudice and Pride by : Damien-Claude Belanger
Download or read book Prejudice and Pride written by Damien-Claude Belanger and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2011-01-22 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a country with enormous economic, military, and cultural power, the United States can seem an overwhelming neighbour - one that demands consideration by politicians, thinkers, and cultural figures. Prejudice and Pride examines and compares how English and French Canadian intellectuals viewed American society from 1891 to 1945. Based on over five hundred texts drawn largely from the era's periodical literature, the study reveals that English and French Canadian intellectuals shared common preoccupations with the United States, though the English tended to emphasize political issues and the French cultural issues. Damien-Claude Belanger's in-depth analysis of anti-American sentiment during this era divides Canadian thinkers less along language lines and more according to their political stance as right-wing, left-wing, or centrist. Significantly, the era's discourse regarding American life and the Canadian-American relationship was less an expression of nationalism or a reaction to US policy than it was about the expression of wider attitudes concerning modernity.

Book Synopsis Réflexions Stratégiques Sur Haïti by : Luc Rémy
Download or read book Réflexions Stratégiques Sur Haïti written by Luc Rémy and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
